  1. Maybe a couple of years ago it made sense (assuming our lads were also playing then like they are now) but now I reckon you're replacing one set of problems with another - plus giving up on someone of Wirtz's ability after one year of being coached by the current regime would be abysmal by the club. I've never rated Joelinton and doubt he'd get the underdog free pass he has at Newcastle to just foul his way through games. Guimares is 28 now and I'm not sure he sustains his peak form for much longer if at all. Tonali...nice footballer but I'm never totally sure whay he does a d the orher two have always been a bogger nuisance for us.
  2. Yeah, crazy that If he can't guarantee the safety of participants then they shouldn't be hosting
  3. I suppose the players involved have mostly retired now but they should all be getting long bans from any involvement in football too

  5. Wild that pleading guilty meant they got off with such a pathetic punishment. The fella in Se7en literally walked into a police station with blood all over his hands then gives one of the bizzies his wife's severed head in a box and what did he get for his honesty? Shot in the f***ing face, that's what. (Sorry, spoilers and that) But yeah...their fine is barely a tenth of the dodgy payments. Should have been stripped of all trophy wins featuring anyone who was implicated. It's the only way to hurt them and make it not worth their while.
  6. It's a really good point about Jurgen to be fair. Quite apart from his personality being the perfect fit, he'd seen and done it all...so much experience when he came to us, not sure you'll ever get that again given how quickly people get promoted these days. If he was starting out now he'd have been at Real after his first league win or got a bigger job than Dortmund in the first place.
  7. They played The Smiths at half-time yesterday f*** off
  8. I think Sterling looked loads better He was probably a touch older though
  9. I'm not sure I totally get the analogy but if Dad loves cars maybe he'd be up for restoring it
  10. Yet here we are and it doesn't feel surprising
  11. There's a Troy Parapet
  12. It was obvious I get that loads at the time were either in denial or felt that we owed him the courtesy of going a bit longer before sacking him but surely nobody is left in either of those camps
  13. Aye Gakpo actually showed some tenacity at times. I mean I'd 100% be giving Rio more of a go but that is mostly cos of how bad the others have been than cos I think he's a generational talent. I'm not seeing that yet but I don't know whether that is cos he isn't being the given the chance to show it or he isn't being given the chance cos he isn't at that level.
  14. But at least PSG would do it in a beautiful manner that is in keeping with Slot's footballing values Oh to get t****** by a team like that! Dulce et Decorum est, pro PSG mori!
  15. I'm past trying to rank the performances It's like putting your hand to the bottom of a very deep bucket of s***, feeling around, finding 10 or 12 different things and pulling one out. 'Oooh, I got Burnley at home, what did you get?' 'PSV/Forest/Leeds/Wolves/Spurs/Man Utd/Man City/Galatasaray1/Galatasaray2/Crystal Palace'
  16. Regime change from the skies
  17. Hopefully Trump just gets on with ending the world
  18. I wish people would stop using this as a measure to be honest. I'm pissed off that we're sixth or whatever it is, I don't really care who is ahead of us cos I don't think any of them should be. We should probably look at their run of form since he took over and take note.
  19. So Barton tells it. And that then Houllier got sacked and Rafa bought Alonso instead so Barton two-footed Alonso in a game for Newcastle as 'revenge'. There isn't a single event in his miserable life that doesn't end up with him being a c***.

  21. You specifically referenced the league. In his time with us Diaz scored at a rate that was about half as good again compared to Gordon in his time at Newcastle, if the league is what you want to look at. It wasn't enough. Nor is a record like Gordon's.
