im actually happy with the squad. I genuinely dont see how we improve the first 11 without spending an absolute fortune, and then if that player even improves the squad and doesnt disrupt the balance, any gains will be marginal. Im also content with the cover we have, i wouldnt mind seeing another left back come in, but other than that I think we are ok, and should be able to rotate plenty against the weaker sides at Anfield. the league cup and our entrance in the Checkatrade nonsense should also mean players who previously didnt get many competitive games will get a few more and keep them fresh. Anyway, we're in good shape. We'll be grand, and i think DH's post was spot on too

yeah, its league games. basically, in a nut shell, a player has maybe 12 seasons at the top averaging 40 games or so. You start earlier, you tend to be done earlier. but the 500 game thing doesn't seem far off the mark

its a fair enough assumption. I cant remember which manager said it, possibly Paisley or Stein, but they reckoned most players had about 500 games in them . after that it was a steep decline. Obviously there are exceptions to that rule, but in terms of total club football, Gerrard played 504, Hansen 520, Dalglish 559, Souness 539, Ian Rush played 600, but in his last 70 club games only managed 4 goals. Milner currently has about 520 club games in the tank.

the liverbird is the same colour as the actual liverbirds. the little design running throughout it is the same design as all the liverpool street signs.
