One thing that's hardly ever mentioned is...
JohnnyH replied to XabisBadFoot's topic in Liverpool FC
So important he is never given the No.1 jersey though. It seems whenever one of our 'keepers moves to that number jersey, they all of a sudden become crap. -
Now that made me laugh

By a country mile the best night of my life. I have never know emotions like it. To go from total despair to pant-wetting elation in the space of 120 minutes was mind boggling. Even in Sabiha Gokcen airport trying to get some kip in front of the check-in desks after been awake for 40 hours I just couldn't calm down. The adrenaline was pumping and every now and again I just felt the need to jump up screaming "YES" and punching the air as if Xabi had just scored the rebound. Even now I still find myself giving the air a small punch when the tv refers to Istanbul in any connotation, or something (anything) sets of my memory of that night.

You ever heard of the word Investment? Look it up.

Kind of what I was trying to say in my post above.

And therein probably lies the crux of the matter. No money, may result in no Rafa.

Having just read this on the offal, I feel a lot more optimistic. Rafael Benitez is hoping to persuade coach Paco Herrera to stay at Anfield beyond the end of this season. Liverpool's reserve team manager is planning to return to Spain in the summer for personal reasons. However, Benitez is hoping a solution can be find which will result in Herrera continuing his excellent work for the Reds. "We are talking about Paco's future because he is an important person for us and he's doing a very good job," said Benitez. "It's a possibility he will stay, but it's also possible he will return to Spain because his family is there. We are thinking about a possible solution." source - http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...060302-1251.htm (don't know how you do that think where you post the link address but put in your own word such as 'here' instead of the actual link)

Noone, just to be different.

I would like to see him get to number 20 aswell, but I look forward to him getting to Number 19 more so. I wouldn't replace a league title with Istanbul at all, but I will consider it as the "we're back" only when we lift that league title.
-
That's not what I said. What I said was that finally bringing the League trophy back to Anfield will, for me, be a bigger achievement then winning the European Cup as it will seal the "we're back" factor. Right now we are a force again, but we will not be back until we win the league. I remember some bloke once saying that the league is our bread and butter, and I agree with that. I think if Rafa had the players and finances Mourinho had then we would have won the league with ease last year, and this year.

That's fair to say. He does have emotional ties to us, and I do think (hope) he will stay, but this Real thing really worries me. Even on the official site they posted a quote from Rafa about the Real link and all he said was how he is concentrating on the 3 cups Liverpool are in this season and nothing else. It just seemed so like the whole Gerrard scenario again. When all we wanted was "I am going nowhere", all we get is, "I am just concentrating on the rest of the season. The actual comments on the site made me more nervous if I'm honest. I actually think winning the title would be a bigger achievement as we will officially be back as the best in the land.

Where was I in Istanbul? Block 351, Row 48, seat 27, just over the top and looking down at the Milan fans actually. So do you actually think that all of a sudden, just because he won the EC with us that he now loves us as much as Madrid? You are a football fan Leo and a Liverpool fan so you know that that is total rubbish. Your first love is always your first love. I suppose King Kenny now loves Blackburn as much as Liverpool because he won the league with them? Wake up Leo. I personally agree with Kindred also and think he will stay, but to discount the massive emotional ties Rafa has with Madrid and the burning desire he will have to manage them is like sticking your head in the sand. For all we know (and none of us actually really know Rafa) he might see this as the ideal time to go to Madrid. A team in Decline, a new president ready to do it his way, the old "galacticos" all nearing retirement (Zidane, Beckahm on way out, Ronaldo on way out, Figo gone) it's a win win for him as he can totally build it in his guise.

Anyone who completely dismisses this is deluding himself. Perez is gone and Rafa loves Real Madrid. Put yourself in Rafa's shoes. You are managing Madrid but Liverpool come calling. Would I want to leave a club I have no emotional ties to and joint the one I love? I would.

How long before Finnan comes out with the dreaded "I have lots of black friends" remark?
-
Long may it last. Less games for Carra and less chance of injury.
