A new coach needs to go with the new blood, there could've been a healthy balance at this tournament but unlike 94, where in-form individuals performances such as Romarios, were good enough to carry the team and coach to the final, Parreira was completely exposed this time.

He's been playing really deep, they need to drop Ronaldo, he's there as a ceremonial striker, nothing more, though his one telling contribution was setting up Adriano for the first. The problem is that so many over here are adamant that good old tried and trusted 4-4-2 is the only way to play, that any other formation is continental fancy dan showboating tinkery that will crumble at the first tackle. They have to play to their strengths, the available players should dictate the formation and tactics. Trying for 3 years to shoehorn Gerrard and Lampard into central midfield has proven it doesn't do either player any favours. They essentially played 3-5-2 in the last 10 minutes against T&T and broke them down after looking absolutely useless prior to that.
