The handful I know in UK watching any of it have some specific interest in one or more of the Brazilian clubs. I can’t envisage anyone being arsed otherwise. If Liverpool were in it would be a different story, on TV and in the stadiums.

If you aren’t even slightly interested in rare, even unprecedented contests between the big South American teams and European ones I’d suggest you don’t like football very much. FIFA can do one. Chelsea being there can do one. Doesn’t change the fact that in Brazil every bar is packed for these games. It’s like a mini World Cup down there.

I did quietly leave the forum in 2013 or so for about a decade. Being accused of mental illness for disagreeing with someone’s appalling politics was the final straw. Matty was a c***. I did meet him in person though, and I’d describe him as a person.
