  1. He beat toure to a header which is amazing. I still like him aand always have. For the benifit of the team though I'd play him up front right now and hope he'd grab us some goals.
  2. I think Gerrard and Sissoko are fast enough for the middle. Also Gonzalez and Kewell will have enough pace. For me it's up front and I'll just wait and see what happens in the summer because there is nothing we can do until then I guess. I'm still peed off though. Lots of us were a little shocked when Baros left and Owen didn't show up leaving us all worried about pace up front if anything happened to Cisse. Cisse now doesn't ever start and Pongo (only other forward with pace) is loaned out. I thought that Rafa had some mad plan that doesn't require pace up front but I'm getting the feeling he did his sums wrong on this one big time.
  3. Both offer very little goal threat more often than not. If we had a class forward off Crouch then that wouldn't be so bad as he's a pretty good player and clever which Heskey wasn't but as an out and out forward I'd have neither. One thing that is so painfully obvious with Crouch is that he reacts to the situation rather than anticipates like a Fowler or Garcia would buying themself a bit of time and space. This coupled with a complete lack of pace and strenght for me means unless it's set up perfectly for him he ain't going to score and the ones he does score any striker in the top two divisions would be peed off if they missed them too.
  4. Just like Heskey did game after game after game etc. bar the 2001 season where he actually played well. Other than that he spent his LFC career limping and moaning avoiding getting himself in goal scoring positions so he didn't have to shoot. He was just as crap as what we currently have. And lets just nip the "but he was played as a wide man most of his LFC career" as he wasn't. It was about 5-7 games in the whole time he was here.
  5. I thought Carra was a mess again today. Don't know what Henry does to him but he's always all over the shop.

  7. Do we know for sure if Sami is out? As for left back. Bloody hell it's a toss up really between Troare and Warnock.

  11. Andy Johnson - 11 Goals in Championship Yakubu - 13 in Premiership For me either one of these players along with a top class forward with Moro and Cisse going to fund it would be a good move. Yakubu/AJ *Top class forward* Crouch and Robbie as backup With either one of FSP or Mellor coming back depending on performances then we'd be better off than now and that's all you can ask.
  12. I hope Ged does it too!

    Strikers

If Garcia is happy to be picked for certain games only then I'd love his to stay. He's what Smicer was meant to be. A tricky player who can get important goals and that's what he does. Right now we need him but if we had a great wide player he'd be brilliant off the bench for us.

    Strikers

Wait till the end of the season. Cisse is gone. For me Fowler stays as he's free. If he's fit Rafa will keep him, if not he'll be told to go. It's be between Crouch and Moro. I reckon Moro will go as Crouch still ha potential as a 3rd choice forward. Also if we keep Moro for another season he'll be worth feck all.
  15. We missed Sammi and Riise. If I hear another person going on about how JAR is a weak link I'll explode. Other than that it was the usual. Nothing up front. I thought we bossed the game and got caught twice. Nothing more. Alonso and Gerrard were great but others let them down. I didn't see tiredness at all tbh just a team playing well not knowing how to bloody score.
  16. Yep I'd have him deffo. I only keep banging on about Yakubu because I'm guess he'd be cheapish compared to AJ. Lots of folks scorned over AJ but I agree, I think he's a really excellent player. Also his link up play is bloody good as well, and he's s*** loads faster than he looks. He always plays it simple yet forward. Great player. Not a glamour striker but he does the business. I have to say I'm more gutted for Gerrard and Rafa tonight than I am myself. It's almost there but bar 2/3 players.
  17. I agree. Personally I would have rathered go out o a team like Barca but so be it. We have to many holes to win it this season anyway.
  18. It might not be his style but he's not stupid and if the price was right he'd snap up a player who'd score 30 goals a season for him. Forget changing things. Keep it the same and we'd be fine. Crouch, Moro and Fowler don't have the legs to propery close down players so play with ten men without the ball knowing you've got goals in you once you win the ball. It's a great motivator. Owen 1978 stop robbing my lines. Macca Yakubu would be better than anything we currently have so it would be a massive plus. He scores goals, he's got passion. he's fast and strong, he can link up well and he battles for every ball. Currently we don't have that. The closest thing we had was Baros and although he had faults he worked the back line all the time.
  19. Not provocative at all. Anyone who thinks their above advice is on the slippery slope. I bet Rafa get's advice off all kinds of people all the time. Cisse he gave the go ahead, Morienties he bought, Crouch he bought as well as Robbie (although I think Fowler is a long term freebe which could be brilliant for us) Two of those four would be fine if they were back up to class forwards. Crouch is excellent as back up to Owen and Rooney in the England team but not as a starter unless he's supporting someone like Owen. Perhaps our strikers are going through a long lean spell and they'll be great but I can't see it. I think Rafa had high hopes for Morienties but it's just not worked out. Moro off either Cisse creating from out wide or Crouch laying on the Niall Quinn like balls was probably what he was hoping for like we all were but it's failed. He's probably more frustrated than anyone on here as the rest of the team works really bloody well. Fowler wasn't a gamble. Either he'll come good or go. Either way it's cost feck all. He's been very unlucky though and the fact that he's scoring and not fit yet is great as well as sad for the other forwards. Personally I'm upbeat because we all can see it so we know Rafa knows the score only too well. I can't wait for the summer signings
  20. Maybe it's just me but I thought we bossed the game again. Perhaps Benfica were a bit lucky or else a little more clever than we gave them credit for but we've only got a few holes and there all up front. Get rid of at east 2 or 3 of the front players and replace them with quality and we'll be at least 15 points better off next season. Also Warnock is a prem player not a CL player and Troare as I said from day one is w*** although he was ok tonight, but you simply can't trust him. He makes the whole back line nervous and rightly so. I hope Agger is a cool customer because Hyypia is going to be so much harder to replace than people realise. Sammi is slow but he's cool and confident and reads the game as well as Paul McGrath did on his last legs and that makes up for so much. As for Gerrard. I thought he was trying to do it all again tonight and fair play to him. It wasn't going to come from anyone else. A little more luck and who knows.
  21. I doubt Rafa needed to be knocked out of the champs league to know he's f***ed up with all four of our strikers. It's his one really really poor area so far. Hopefully he'll get advice on what's needed over the coming months.
  22. Lets be fair here. I was intrigued when he arrived. His greatest asset being his obvious height is wasted on him. He's s*** at heading the ball and he gets fouls called against him in the box for ever challenge he makes due to his height. (granted that's not his fault) He's good on the deck alright but I think we make more of that due to his height and poor heading ability. For me he's a Scholes like player without the tenacity to find himself on the end of chances or the mobility to play a deeper roll. He's not aggressive and to be honest he's panned out exactly like I hoped he wouldn't.Not a bad player but nothing to get too excited about. He seems like a nice guy all the same but he's an impact sub at best when everything else hasn't worked. I think if our first choice strikers were quality then Crouch would be a great 3rd choice to bring on. As it stands he's miles off the pace in every way to lead the line but that's not his fault.
  23. Oh well. Bar up front we're ok. Wasn't that surprising. Benfica are tidy at the back and we are s**** up front. Big shame indeed but it was on the cards.
  24. Great news indeed for him personally and for us. Hope he makes a full recovery and goes onto playing for us for the next 10 plus years.
  25. I was thinking this myself last night during the game. Loads wanted him even after half his first season at Chelsea when you would have thought he's exactly the opposite of everything Liverpool.
