This one has raised it's head a few times in recent months, I noticed an interesting stat from Opta today though. Rafa's now managed exactly the same amount of games with us as GH did but while GH had a win ratio of 49% Rafa's is 55%.

we lost plenty more under GH --- whats the draw percentages like thats where the issue with rafa lies specially last season

surprised they're both not higher than that tbh

GH won 6 trophies to Rafa's 4 too ;)

But Asian girls were crazier for Torres than they were for Owen

Houllier took over a s**** team as well. i mean, a really bad side. Rafa took over a good side and didnt start from quite as far back as Ged

Is there any way of seeing the team for the last game before Houllier took over?

That could make for sobering reading.

Rafa's inherited a far better group there, but the team that GH took over is a lot better than I remembered.

Rafa didn't inherit Owen really though. He inherited Cisse instead

I don't think anybody is saying Houllier is better.

Interesting that this pops up after Rafa's 4 trophies interview... Very GH that was.

Anyway, the main difference for me is that the league is much tougher post Abramovich, some of it is a knock on effect, (united and city) but most of it is just as a result of the league being pumped with money. For Rafa to have a better wins to games ratio despite this, a horrible season of no-shows and several poor starts/ends to seasons tells the story.

Here's one. Would Benitez have done better in the league with the Treble season/season after squad than Houllier did?

Certainly would have had us playing higher and got more out of the more technically and tactically switched on players.

depends whether it was the Rafa of last season - in which case, maybe

or this season - in which case, not a prayer

who are you thinking of ?

dunno about the playing higher bit, Knox. Rafa's sides play every bit, if not deeper, than Houlliers

If you take El Zhar and Babel out, have no wide men, play with just the 9 and you improve the team by about Forfty percent.
