I keep reading that we'll be involved in qualifiers starting in late-July, but this season Everton's first qualifier was on 20 August - a few days after the season started.

Likewise Villa. Fulham's started on 30 July.

I don't imagine we'll be involved before the last round of qualifiers - I don't know whether anyone qualifies for the stupid league bit automatically

I think it's to do with the fact we are the lowest ranked qualifiers from England (in terms of this season's attainment, not UEFA coefficient thingy).

Davvo is right

we're in the 3rd qualifying round

to be fair there's some massive sides in there with us as well. Juve and Stuggart to name 2.

Just to add

Draw date for 3QR is 16 July

First leg is 30th July

Second leg is 5th August

Think we also have to play in the 4QR just to get into the group stages!!!!!!!!!

It's gonna be well s***. Hope we get knocked out early on.

I don't think it's a bad thing, at least the players will show up for pre season unlike last year

Agreed

We are terrible at pre-season, might benefit us this

We can hope. It's not a certainty though

Could give us an advantage in being sharper for the start of the season that's for sure, although whether we pay for it later in the season if we go far in all the cups is another matter. Still, if that's all we've got to be concerned with next season I'll be a happy fan.

But as our manager will be Martin O'Neill it means the first choice XI will play every game from 30 July until mid-March (when they'll all get injured).

So if we'd bothered our a*** to beat Hull, we'd have finished above Villa and gone into the 4th qualifying round. Perfect end to the season.

play the kids (Not the reserve team team, the Kids) in the ALL cup comps next season and trim down the first team squad to be 16-18 players, supported by some of the stars from the youth for the league.

we did not finish 6th because of the Hull game but because of the majority of the 37 league games before that.

Maybe, but we knew that 6th was in reach with a result at already relegated Hull, didn't matter in the end. :(

We had great results against the top 3 the season before. That was never going to be repeated last season, what let us down this time were the visits to Pompey Wolves Wigan Birmingham Hull were we went with a far to cautious and negative attitude.
