This is great, we are all together in this blip and we know its just a matter of time before things improve. Carry on as normal supporters, nothing to see here, keep buying the tickets.

Can't you just feel the togetherness ?

"Mr Benayoun" love it.

Very interesting to listen to. Very interesting indeed. Certainly talks a good game that's for sure.

"Worst is over" re finance and stadium potential.

"If you were to look at the importance of a new stadium to the club and the economic impact to the club in terms of allowing us to have budgets to demonstrate to the fans the financial strength to be competitive in world football, we would be excited about moving forward at the earliest possbile date".

"No news yet, but it's starting to feel things are changing and we might be able to move forward soon"

"it would be great for the club, fans and everyone".

"would still take 30 months to build"

"club is on good shape otherwise, big new shirt sponsor......."

He was quick to blame injuries and bad luck and "circumstance". Was adamant that Benitez is in the top 5 of managers around the world.

Fact is, they have no money so we can't buy players to fix it, but he won't discuss that. If there is one thing we know for certain, they (G&H) are counting soooo much on the stadium being built, for their gain and the club's gain. They are despearate for that to happen so they can say "we told you so"

With his track record of plain out lying, we could pretty much interpret that to be the opposite of what he said, so...

* don't rate Rafa

* the stadium will never be built

* no financing in the near future

.... and so on....

what ever anyone's feelings towards the owners, what Gillette said needed to be said. The papers, sky and every other commentator feels the need to have a go at Rafa. The end of the season is when that needs to happen not now. As fans during the season it should be about the team.

maybe, maybe not. But for sure Rafas i where he is until the end of the season, maybe more. That should be accepted and lets all just get on with it. The whole manager's situation story is a bit of a bore anyhow,

Ignoring Joda's piffle for a sec, there's a piece in that article that has really got my goat (and I'd like it back)

Although they are still in the Europa League, Liverpool are in serious danger of finishing the campaign without a trophy for the fourth successive season.

They are languishing in the league

Now, there are two points here - one, despite still being in a competition which ends with a trophy we are in "serious danger" of not winning it. How, exactly? We're not even losing to away goals from the first leg. Last time I checked, we haven't even played the first leg yet, and already the media message is that we're almost out of the contest.

And languishing. Languishing. We're seventh, a win and a draw from fourth. Not 17th. Nice that someone bought you a thesaurus, Jnr, now go and get the dictionary you so obviously need.

No bias my a***

Would you have preferred 'stuttering along barely clinging to the coat tails of their rivals for the much coveted , lucrative 4th spot'?

It's more accurate, certainly.

There's a growing trend for passing comment and opinion off as news (not just in sport coverage) and I'm getting fecked off with it.

Whats the interesting bits? Its the same cliched drivel we hear all the time. And heard the day they joined.

For starters I just prefer to listen rather than read the interview. That way you get the context better which in this case was interesting for me.

The other interesting bits were his mood, knowledge or lack of knowledge and the long pauses before anwering questions about us. When talking about the Canadiens he was free flowing, but he really didn't want to talk about us to start with. That in itself is interesting, no?

I don't like George. I'm less dismissive of Tom. Both want to make money, both need the stadium to happen. In the absence of willing and able investors to take over from them, I hope they get the finance for the stadium asap. the club needs it desperately on many levels, not least because it's more likely to bring their reign to an end.

The bit towards the end of the audio he mentions the fact the stadium will take 30 months to build and he said something about still needing planning approval etc, I thought we had all the planning sorted and in place.

He obviously just wanted to use the word languishing, it's a nice word. Technically, I think it's possible to languish in 7th, but not in 6th, unless you are Everton in which case you are over achieving if you are 7th

I haven't heard the whole clip, but when he's talking about the stadium, it sounds mostly like a sales pitch, with a little bit thrown to the supporters incase any of them are still gullible enough to believe a word he says. Basically I find what ever he (or Hicks) says to be an insult to the intelligence of fans.

"we'd certainly be excited about trying to figure out a way to move forward on that topic at the earliest possible date" - please invest, and then we can build a stadium (maybe)

"we're starting to feel (with no deadlines) although it now suddenly becomes possible" - We're going to build a staium one day (maybe). I'm not gonna make the mistake again of saying when...

"The club is already in very good shape economically. But with a new stadium, the club becomes one of the most competitive clubs in the world" = I'm talking about money here, not in terms of challenging for trophies. So please invest. We're not a risky venture.

"In that situation (building a stadium) it would be great for the club, great for the fans, and great for the manager" = really I don't care about any of that, I just want money.

"We'd love to get to that point (building a stadium) as soon as possible = if it happens quickly enough, maybe I can make even more money than if I sell my shares now for a profit

Don't believe George Gillett's claims over Rafael Benitez

Tony Barrett

As soon as George Gillett gave Rafael Benitez his backing the response of Britain’s bookmaking fraternity should have been to slash the odds on the Liverpool manager losing his job.

Gillett’s form is in the book. Whatever he says, expect the opposite.
