D.Boon Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I presume some of his annoyance was at himself? Angry Rafa
Nerik Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Transcript of HT team talk: "Sammy dammi il tactics board!""Si boss, eccolo""WAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAA" (chop, crash, bang........)
Frosty Jack Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I doubt much anger will be directed at himself. The selection of Aurelio in CM wasn't the reason why almost everyone on the pitch played like s***.

yellow jumper Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I doubt much anger will be directed at himself. The selection of Aurelio in CM wasn't the reason why almost everyone on the pitch played like s***. it was a positive decision with considerable downside if it went wrong. can see the arguments for gerrard, but he was poor there against debrecen and generally in europe experience says that the off the striker role is the one he should be playing. better compromise for me would have been something closer to the 433 we used at west ham with aurelio lucas gerrard as the narrow three in midfield, but that's all with hindsight, don't really attach much of the blame on the manager for that performance.
Hassony Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Mascherano might have made a difference, but he wasn't available, good to see rafa getting angry at the players, some of them seem to have settled on a comfort zone
Beardsley Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Rafa during halftime: "I brought two of my close friends to motivate you for the second half, say hello to Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson. No get out there and perform, no!"
CarraLegend Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I presume some of his annoyance was at himself? You dont like the manager, we got it the first time you boring prick.

Red Kent Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Rafa has to shoulder some of the blame. The selection and tactics were wrong and although what ever was said and discussed at half time worked to a certain extent, the changes made were to late. However if Lucas had of scored that header things may have been a lot different. One thing that does worry me a lot is when Nando struggles for whatever reason there is no alternative but to carry on, and that is down to Rafa surely ?

If Lucas had scored, I'd have fancied us to go on and win it. Fiorentina were struggling with the pace of our attacks at that stage. But shortly after the chance the tempo died again and that was that.
CarraLegend Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 School let out early today? Not that I know of, you seem the expert on "schools" for whatever reason, perhaps you could tell us?
CarraLegend Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 One thing that does worry me a lot is when Nando struggles for whatever reason there is no alternative but to carry on, and that is down to Rafa surely ? What can he do? We had no money.

Kuyt is an alternative, Babel, Ngog, too. the probem is that Nando is the sort of player who will often create something from nothing, so it doesnt make much sense to take him off

Chili Palmer Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 And if he does get taken off and we aren't winning, everybody goes spare That wouldn't bother Benitez, and nor should it.
sutty Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 That wouldn't bother Benitez, and nor should it. I didn't say it does.
D.Boon Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 Not that I know of, you seem the expert on "schools" for whatever reason, perhaps you could tell us? Because you act like a little kid, its that simple. If you think Rafa is completely blame free from Tuesday night then go for it, prove me wrong, show me the error of my ways with your footballing wisdom. Alternatively act like a prick and make out like i have an agenda, its up to you, i don't give a s***.

Alternatively act like a prick and make out like i have an agenda, its up to you, i don't give a s***. What pass did Rafa misplace? What attack did he breakdown? Where did he play someone onsides so they could score? Rafa didn't lose the match , the players did. He put out a team very capable of winning. He was pissed off because they didn't perform. Maybe the 6-1 gave them to much confidence. Maybe Gerrard and Carragher need a kick up the backside. Maybe the whole team does. But it seems he gave them one at half time and the second half we were much better. Had we started the match that way, then we might just have won it.
CarraLegend Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 If you think Rafa is completely blame free from Tuesday night then go for it, prove me wrong, show me the error of my ways with your footballing wisdom. Where have I said he's blame free? You're just being a f***ing bellend constantly going on about how he should blame himself, what on earth do you want him to do? Come on SSN in tears telling the world how it all his fault or something? You call me a child yet everyone of your posts is either talking about Andy or a snide dig at one of our players or manager, who's the child here? And you dont "give a s****" but enough of one to reply to my every post eh?!

But nowhere near as good in that position. I cannot remember the last time we went 4 4 2 as an alternative.

honourablegeorge Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I'm sure I've heard that quote before - when we lost to Benfica, it was.
Nebraska Red Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 We may have players that can play upfront. But nowhere near as good in that position. I cannot remember the last time we went 4 4 2 as an alternative. there is no point in going 4-4-2 until we have a credible option up front. none of our current "options" strike fear into the opposition. unless we stick Gerrard next to Torres, we offer liittle threat when Torres is well marshalled. what annoys me is seeing Torres with 3 or 4 defenders next to him and not one of our midfield players taking advantage of the freedom or space left by the defence.
