I'd bring The Doss, Aurelio and The Vog in. Rest Insua, Yossi and Riera. Wouldn't bring Mascherano back either and would look to get The Tog, Gegsy and Glen Jono off early.

Edit: Just read he came back yesterday. I'd still rest him if he's actually injured or at least feeling tired from the trip back from Argentina.

Resting key players is not an option, last years champions league group was a nice relaxing stroll as we got 2 good wins early doors, I wouldn't fancy drawing this one and then having to go to Fiorentina next time out needing a result- we don't want to be in a situation like 2007-08, players can rest from the final group games if and when the job is done. Torres, Gerrard, Johnson etc can miss the Leeds Carling Cup game and have a weeks rest before Hull

As a regular gambler on obscure European leagues I can safely say these are dreadful, really s****. I wouldnt mind Gerrard and Torres left out for this but doubt it'll happen. Us, Lyon and Fiorentina will take 6 points off them.

Rafa gave an interview the other day saying how important it is to win the first game and take control of the group and how difficult things were made when we lost to Marseille 2 seasons back. He'll stick out a good team and look to get the game done.

As s*** as these are. Teams have the annoying trait of raising their game at Anfield ten fold. So obviously a strong team is needed. People suggesting resting players is mental. We're only a few weeks into the season! only the Spanish lads and Dossena had a busy summer. Rest players if we're 3/4-0 up and if we've already qualified by the last two games.

I don't think resting Riera (I'd be stunned if he played), Yossi and Insua is crazy talk or complacent. Start Tog, Dirk, Geg and Glen Jono and then sub three of the four in an ideal world.
