One one hand, there's almost no hope of three goals at Stamford Bridge. On the other, we've got three goals back in half the time before.

Weakened team, and go for the league? Or is that sort of "giving up" demoralising for the team?

I think we have to focus on the league campaign now. Chelsea are too strong to throw away that advantage at their own ground. Even if we got past Chelsea, a 2 legged semi against Barca would test our squad to the limit and make it very difficult to keep winning games in the league.

I just have a hunch that the club is going for the league title or bust this year.

Certainly played like it last night

I dont see anyone at the club giving up unless it's an hour gone and we're no closer to the score we need.

We're pretty much out already, but we still shouldn't put out a second string team.

We're still very much underdogs to win the league.

I'd say rest some players. Don't risk anyone who's even slightly injured and approach the game in a professional manner but don't bust a gut going for goals. Chelsea will presumably be happy to comply with that once the pattern's established.

I'll be embarrassed if we throw in the towel now.

The league is nearly as much of a long shot as the European Cup.

Full team and have a go.

Has to be.

Anyone lacking motivation need only watch that c*** Terry's interview on the BBC website.

I'm not giving this up yet.

I think we have a week before we play Arsenal so we might as well go for it and pray we don't get any injuries. We can rest Gerrard and Torres if we make no impression after an hour.

Thats what will happen.

What he say?

I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole thing and in all honesty he didn't say anything esepcially c***, it is more just that being such a c*** already means that any time he opens his mouth I want to ram my fist down it.

He said something about how our fans we're delighted with his booking and that it distracted our players and contributed to their goal, and how he was disappointed with our players trying to get him booked especially as 'Alonso was crying a couple of years ago when Gudjohnnsen got him booked'.

c***.

Yep.

It's an interesting one. Uncharted waters for Rafa and i'm looking forward to seeing what he does.

3-4-1-2 or 3-4-2-1. We need to either dominate that space between the lines or occupy both centre halves. It's a massive no-Crouchy game actually as he'd be perfect.

So a bit of both, perhaps, though I'd play Dirk right wing-back and The Doss left wing back. Agger and Hyypia in alongside Carra.

We'll go full strength, and we should too. We can't give up on it. One early goal, and maybe doubts will creep into them. Terry suspended. Who knows?

Anyway, Blackburn next.

We'll play 4 2 3 1 as normal and wont even think of changing the system until about the 60 minute mark

I would rather hesitantly put forward the proposition that regardless of anything, the date of this game demands that we play to win, or am I well wide of the mark?

Sami's not in the euro squad
