A heavy loss by Chelsea at Anfield in the European cup should hurt more than that.

I'm disapointed but don't feel broken, why is that ?

I think all credit goes to Chelsea, Guus Hiddink and their players looked like they wanted it a lot more than us. For once I don't begrudge them their victory. Again, why is this ? You don't usually see a Benitez side beaten to the ball for effort and desire.

Maybe I just didn't fancy us to beat Chelsea and am looking for some comfort.

Because we still have the league to play for.

Its because we believe we can win the league. its as simple and perhaps misguided as that.

oh and f*** it

We're not out of this yet.

we played like we were out of it.

win 2-0 and chelsea are still through so we need 3 goals. would have been nice to get one or two of those tonight.

Chelsea are desperate for the CL, we are desperate for the League and it showed. On to Blackburn, it's always been the big one this week as annoying as this defeat is.

I thought we'd win to be honest and was really surprised by our performance considering our form recently. Strangly I'm not that fussed either. The night Garcia scored "that goal" I was hopping off the walls as well as last seasons b******s with Riise.

If we a*** it up against Blackburn then I guess tonight will have more of a meaning and we'll regret it more on Saturday night than now.

As it stands we still have hope in the league which we haven't had in years at this stage in the season. I guess that's why I'm not so arsed actually. At this stage of the season the CL is usually our only hope so I guess that's a positive of sorts.

We're out.

Got to concentrate on the league. Win all our remaing games and we have a good chance. can we do that though? confidence will have been shattered tonight

I feel the same. Its strange but I just care about the league so so so much more.

Plus I think Barca are going to destroy whoever gets through anyway lol.

I'm probably more p1ssed off about the manner in which we lost and two pretty much identical goals from corners than the actual result per se.

worst thing about losing is the loss in confidence

we were so high after the last gasp fulham win, it felt like the league was ours. the mancs lucky win against villa and this poor game now must be a blow for confidence. a win tonight would have sent us into the blackburn game flying, it's going to be more tense now

Couldn't give a toss. Well, I could, but my god this place drains out any passion. So, with that caveat (it has loads of pedants, too): I'd rather we kept on winning in the league.

We played poorly and deserved to lose. To concede three goals is painful and we have a huge mountain to climb.

We are capable of winning by a three goal margin against anyone, and Terry will be out for the return leg.

Maybe I'm just bullsh1tting myself that we can do it just to numb the pain.

I don't think so. Players have more character than that. If anything it'll focus us.

it all depends if we get first goal within first 10 as terry is out..

They've got a great replacement, what we need is Essien and Cech to get injured this weekend.

plus them to have a player sent off in the first few minutes

plus a penalty

plus 15 minutes of injury time

but f*** it

I'm all for bravado and the like, but we're out of this and we should rest Gerrard and Torres for the second leg. There's absolutely no point in playing them and letting one of them pick up an injury in what is now a 'pointless' game.

I will, of course, retract this statement if we pull it off.

thats the first time in a hell of a long time that I thought Rafa was out-thought in a game. Gerrard was anonymous because Essien marked him out of the game, Rafa didnt react to do anything about this until he moved him deeper into midfield later in the game - too late perhaps he should have acted sooner.

The defending from corners that lead to their 2 headed goals was very unlike us! It could be described as woeful defending - again it seems like an age since I last would have described our defending as 'woeful'. Its a hugely disappointing result because I thgouth we had a real chance of winning this competition. Admittedly Barca may have proved an even bigger test than Chelsea but thats all ifs and buts.

Hiddink is a special manager capable of getting the best out of his players and I think his team deserved their win tonight, perhaps we should be relieved that he's buggering off at the end of May.

999 times out of 1000 we don't concede both of those set pieces goals in one match.

s*** happens. Bluntly, I'd rather it happened tonight than on Saturday.

Conceding two goals like that is pretty bad but s*** happens. It's the reaction to those two set-backs that i'm shocked about and our inability to rectify the situation.
