BRAND NEW DOCUMENTARY TONIGHT ON LFC TV

Liverpoolfc.tv 28 October 2008

'From Gayle to Babel: The Black Contribution to LFC' is a brand new documentary which will air on LFC TV for the first time at 8.30pm this evening.

The one hour long programme, which premiered at Liverpool's FACT cinema last night, celebrates the contribution of black players to the club's success story as part of October's Black History Month.

Revealing interviews with a host of stars examines their experiences as a black player from the 1970's through to the present day.

Amongst those appearing are Anfield's first black footballer Howard Gayle, together with contributions from John Barnes, Emile Heskey and Ryan Babel.

Black History Month has been celebrated across the UK every October for over three decades, growing from strength to strength each year.

Rakesh Daryanani, Diversity & Inclusions Officer LFC, said "The documentary shows pride in our diversity and celebrates the work of these footballers and the impact they've had at England's most successful football club."

This documentary will also be available to watch free of charge on this website after it has aired on LFC TV.

I went to a preview screening of this last night at FACT. It's a really good watch. There's some great interviews, liberally peppered with brilliant goals. If you wanted a reminder of just what an exceptional footballer John Barnes was you should definitely tune in.

Was there too.

It's a good film for the short production time even if a bit too much Rogan Taylor.

I'm not so sure. Warner went on to do well for Wolves. I can't remember much from Pegguy or Itandje that would put them above him?

I should've had Song at centre-half, Anelka alongside Collymore, and then put Heskey at right-back.

Michael Thomas was in the film AND at the screening. Mark Walters was in the film too.

Those two and the original, Howard Gayle, should be in people's picks here, if only on the 7 man bench.
