At what point does supporting the team..

There has been talk of a match boycott for quite some time now... but at what point does being a fanatical supporter, turning up game after game, and lining the pockets of these two f*cking charlatans start to do more harm to the club than good.

When the Klinsmann stories broke last year, would a strong and sustained boycott have made them cut their losses (or profit to be more precise).

I know we were still in with a shout of the league and the Champions League and the thought of ever boycotting a game would be complete sacrilege to some, but in the end we finished without a trophy and we still have these two c*nts in charge.

This is not a preach, I'm genuinely interested in people's opinons.

the best boycott wouldnt be a financial one (ie not buying the tickets) as you are right

however, if it was organised, Season Ticket holders could boycott a game and it was really show

however

1) thousands would have to join in

2) the club would know who took part due to the card system

3) it woulodnt happen anyway

only possible way it could remotely work it to make the turnstile a pickett fence. it would need a lot of prior organistaion makmingsure those that travel a long way know whats happening plus putting on the game art several locations so people actually don't miss watching the match.

An empty ground would be a hell of a show of resolve and strength though.

pickett fence ?

Any attempt to picket the ground would be met with arrests wouldn't it ?

El Crazios!....... what we need are some super rich nutcase's to buy as many tickets as possible.. then eat them or something........ In all fairness its gunna be down to the season ticket holders to do something as Daytrippers will always buy tickets!

there wont ever be a boycott that will work. too many people willing to take the place of those who dont show up.

is, like it or not, the right answer.

That seems to be the major sticking point, doesn't it.

I'm not sure if that a defeatist attitude or just plain realistic.

It would need a hell of a lot of work to make sure 'everyone' knew beforehand - but I'm not sure it's impossible and the effect would be worth it.

Nothing speaks louder than a cash till to these two and showing them that we had the genuine weapon of a boycott might get the ‘for sale’ signs up.

Newcastle fans have never managed to do it and Manchester City fans boasted of the gates they had while their team slipped down to the third division (regardless of how it was dressed up at the time). The directors of Leeds rub their hands in glee at the numbers of loyal supporters who fill Elland Road every week regardless of where they are in the league. Both Sheffield clubs get big gates whatever division they are in. Human nature dictates this boycott idea will not work, however if any club could do it, ours could.

i don't think ours could.. many years ago i'd have thought we could.. not now.. there's too much apathy now.. you only have to look at the march the SOS organised.. i was in amongst that crowd walking and the amount of people stood watching, taking photo's or catching the video on their mobile was scary.. how can so many people not be bothered what is happening at our club?

Best form of boycott would be to stop buying merchandise such as LFC shirts and cancelling subscription to the LFC website etc. Although this needs careful planning and organisation it is achievable. It is well known that the majority of the club's revenue comes from television and merchandise money and not gate receipts.

Boycotting Carlsberg and Adidas would also send out a strong message provided it is well publicised by the likes of SOS.

I don't know why somebody doesn't organise the opposite of a boycott. Get everyone to go into the ground as early as possible and display protest banners, etc. A near full-house an hour before kick off is so rare that it would get noticed these days. Especially on a Saturday. Its also something that wouldn't rely on people missing any of the match or conflicting with security outside the stadium. Just a thought.

think people say "boycott" though in order to hit the Yanks in the pocket.. forgetting, of course, that the season ticket holders have already paid as have the ones with tickets whose seats would end up empty - thereby not having the desired effect of them not getting as much money.. people getting in the ground an hour earlier - eating an extra hotdog, packet of crisps etc or having an extra bottl eof carlsberg or a coke would actually increase their turnover for the day! :D

to be honest, i'm up for giving anything a go but would rather not boycott.. last season i staged my own mini protest and missed games such as Inter Milan at home.. my mate can virtually guarantee me a ticket and after about 3 or 4 games he mentioned that one of the lads was taking 'my' tickets in my absence and i thought "whats the fkin point of me missing out if they're still gonna be getting their money".. i soon gave in - as has been mentioned, if i don't buy a ticket someone else will and then i'm missing out for nothing.. why should i miss us play? I was here before them c**** and i'll be here long after they're gone.. i think it's silly to boycott but, if it was deemed reasonable to do so and had the required support, i would buy my ticket and i would not go to the game - regardless of who we were playing.. how that helps f*** knows but i'd be willing to do it..

It wouldn' t, and like you say, someone will take your ticket if you don't go.

There must be a way to galvanise support (or lack of it) to the point where a boycott would make them stand up, take notice, and hoefully f*ck off.

Of course, I don't know how you'd go about it but it's nice to dream.

I'd like to think you're right, but I can't imagine what you base that comment on ????

What about having SOS print loads and loads of cards with the following printed on them:

Something along the lines of; "While Gillet and Hicks remain in charge, I pledge not to spend anything other than the price of the match/season ticket in this stadium" and then have people hand them over en-masse at the kiosks under the stands or in Fiverworld when it's your turn to pay? If a significant number of people did this, they couldn't ignore it. Takings would be down but there'd be a written, specified reason as to why. If lots of fans queued up at the kiosks and in the line at Fiverworld, it would decrease the numbers of people wanting to buy stuff so it would be bound to reduce takings. While people are in the queue we could promote the idea on a one-to-one basis amongst the people waiting to spend money there, get them to think twice about handing their money over.

crazy idea, but only thing that could work.

the press reaction alone would be useful and harm G&H

it's not just about an empty stadium, but loss of income...

Rafa has personally requested that protests stay outside the stadium

which really pisses me off, but on the other hand simply brings forward the day when Gillet and/or Hicks suffer violent retribution and sell up for their own safety

It would lead to me knocking some f***ing heads.
