Inter Milan are eyeing Liverpool prospect Lauri Dalla Valle.

Corriere dello Sport says Inter want to bring the teenage Finn to Italy, but it's understood they've been caught out after the striker signed his first pro deal last week

Strange story to emerge a week after he signed pro forms.

what shambles? Is it the coaches not getting on with Rafa etc?

He is referring to the shambles involving us being current Premier League reserve chamions as well as winners of the FA Youth cup twice in the last 3 years.

Not strange given the academy/melwood shambles. Suspect lots of them are trying to get away. Eccleston is off to Blackbrun, apparently.

Eccleston who's in the CL squad? That Eccleston?

And what shambles?

Rumours surfaced that Eccleston was sent back to the Academy a week later

As a result, he is now at Blackburn on trial

have no idea what honourablegeorge means

Rafa sent him back. No room for him. Pretty much no room for anyone from the academy at Melwood, as there's thirty or so "reserves" there already, that Rafa's brought in hmself.

The academy's being run by Hamburg, who Rafa apparently doesn't see eye to eye with, so he's basically got his own squad of youngsters. Meanign the academy is somethign of a waste at the moment.

Is it the law that whoever we have running the academy (in this case, a man brought in by Rafa) doesn't get on with the manager?

And is Melwood so small that there's a limit on numbers?

As for Eccleston going on trial at Rovers, given the importance of home-grown players for CL squads n such, I would be surprised if that was the case - especially as I can't find a report of that being the case anywhere.

Not shocked, granted, but surprised.

Hamburg was brought in by Parry. Rafa's supposedly spoken about hsi desire to reform the academy system at the club too, so he evidently has some different idea about it all.

No limit on numbers, but you can only field elevens player for a reserve game, so that's Hobbs, Roque, El Zhar and half the Hungarian U212 side, plus first-team castoffs like Pennant. Which means it's hugely difficult for any academy player to get a reserve game, never mind first team.

Not pointign the finger at anyone, I don't know where the rights and wrongs of all this are - but there needs to be some sort of cohesion between the academy and reserves - otherwise we're runnign an academy to develop players who we'll never play for us professionally. And I suspect the only way that's going to happen is if it's all done the way a certain poartly bearded spanish gentleman wants it done

If you're good enough - but equally, local player sare going to go to Everton or other Academies, simply because they've a better chance of making the team. Now, maybe the players we have a t Melwood are all better, in which case we're not losing out. But you do wonder where the next Gerrard might come from - and you see from Carragher and Gerrard what a difference beign local makes.

Hamberg

There's an interesting thread on all this on The Liverpool Way forum if anyone wants to read more.

Apparently Ablett asked for Ecclestone to be promoted. That request was granted and he started training at Melwood. A week or so later Rafa met with Ablett and after that meeting Ecclestone was sent back to the Academy on the basis that there were too many forwards in the reserves.

Obviously suggests political point scoring going on and there seems to a bit of a cold war going on between Parry and Rafa with the Academy being Cuba.

What's making things a little worse is that some of the forwards we do have in the reserve squad apparently aren't anywhere near as good as Ecclestone. The Brazilian we signed, Flora, is supposed to be fairly ordinary apparently.

I'd say Maldini will be able to better explain it all than I am, he's more familiar with the quality of the younger players etc.

Not sure how you get the political point scoring out of that?

Piet Hamberg was Parry's appointment wasn't he? Rafa allegedly doesn't think much of him.
