I keep hearing pundits say that they expect us to sit in on Tuesday, invite Arsenal on and look to hit them on the break. Obviously we don't need to score a goal as the tie stands, but I just don't think we're likely to play it that way. We very rarely do in Europe at Anfield. We normally come out and go for it, even when we were 2-1 up after winning at the Nou Camp last year. We would surely be asking for trouble to invite a team like Arsenal onto us?

I reckon we'll come flying out, capitalise on the crowd and try and get a goal which will take the roof off. Naturally if its still 0-0 after 60 minutes or so, we'll probably start to sit back naturally. Just can't see Rafa sending his team out to play a defensive game though.

Reckon Rafa might be playing a few games with these comments, I'm sure he'd love Arsenal to believe that we'll sit in and not expect the whirlwind...

"Our fans have a big role to play for us.

It is natural for them to want us to attack because we are at home, but we will also have to be careful because of the way Arsenal play.

We need the fans to make it a great atmosphere, but we also need them to be patient.

I have confidence in our supporters because they understand the game."

Attack them early and try to get the goal.

tricky one this......like we`ve seen on previous occasions against the a*** in recent years, if we play arsenal at their own game and go at them....we have struggled..

I honestly think we will be more cautious, i expect gerrard to play deeper....

We've come flying out at them in our last two home games against them and scored early both times.

Really think Crouch needs to start.

They'll score, so i think we'll need to win the game outright, which we are fully capable of.

They're not certain to score. I know they usually do but everyone seems to think its definite. Chelsea have always struggled to get a crucial away goal at Anfield.

Agree. If we sit back too much I think they'll do us - our set piece defending is a liability and if they run at us we'll give away corners and free-kicks. I was wrecked by the end of the second half in the first leg; never been so stressed during 45 mins of football. I reckon they will be a little jaded given Wenger didn't rest many, but I still wouldn't want to see them with lots of possession. If we score first, I reckon we'll score again cos they'll come at us and we'll take them on the break.

I think we'll go for it, try to nick a goal or two within the first 20mins and then we'll probably assess the game and depending on how it pans out we'll just try to keep it solid but not concede too much territory in our own half.

Arsenal have to score but even if we score it doesn't change Arsenal's mind set one jot. We are slightly disadvantaged in that respect.

Several ways of playing this:

1 Go at them hard, hope to score a goal and break their spirit

2 Rope a dope - they're tired, try to get them chasing shadows then bring on Torres in the second half

3 Counter attack

4 play for a draw

either way it's going to be tense IMHO and I'm hoping its a different result to 1989

There is no way 2 will happen.

If he doesn't start the Tog, I'll be f***ing stunned.

What?

At home under Rafa everytime we've gone all guns blazing at them we've come out on top apart from earlier this season. Ok they're a better team now than 2 years ago but european night at anfield, we're not gonna come out and sit back on a lead are we? Give arsenal hope and dampen our own crowd?! First 20 minutes atleast let's go out there and try to flatten them into submission.

At home, wall of noise all around the ground, fast high tempo football - we are capable of destroying anyone in the world. Let's try and do it. Remember first half against Barca last year? 2-1 up from the first leg but first 45mins we absolutely anhialated them (although somehow failed to score).

Try to smash them in the first half hour. Lightening quick tempo, backed by a baying crowd. Try to blow them away early doors, whilst not taking any silly risks.

If it's still 0-0 settle back down and play our 'normal' high tempo, pressing European game... trying to dominate, whilst hitting on the break if they have possession.

Basically play it like we've played every other big European game at home in recent years!!
