I like Crouch.

But he is slow, looks back when he has the ball, can't beat his man, is inconsistent with his finishing, can't head the ball with any real power on a consistent basis and has the turning circle of a milkfloat.

We had pace in the attack with Babel and Torres today - and we looked a hell of a bit more dangerous for it.

I couldn't give a monkeys who plays as long as we win.

Exactly

i can't see how crouch fits in at the moment with the way we play, unless he comes in for torres

He scores goals and can control a football so must be a shoe-in ahead of 'Today with Dirk'

His attitude this season has been s***. And his performances have been little better.

I hope the contract talks are merely a preamble to getting a decent fee in the summer

you think crouch can do a better job on the wing than Kuyt?

Crouch is an infuriating player.

He seems to do his best work for us when coming on late in a tied game when he puts in a great deal of effort and shows some enthusiasm fo the game.

When he starts a game he just goes through the motions most of the time and puts in a lazy performance. The game against Barnsley was a prime example of him not being willing to get stuck in and challenge for the ball as he backed out of so many high balls and was beaten by defenders much smaller than him.

I would not be upset to see him sold at the end of the season, and as he is English he would command a decent fee.

Don't think he's done anything wrong. Thought he'd start today.

Hope he scores the winner in Milan.

Down to 12 months on his contract soon.

Strongly suspect he was offered a new contract last summer and turned it down, explaining why he has played so little. Even Momo got an extension when Rafa tried to sell him last summer, to maintain his value..

On that basis and belief, I don't feel sorry for him at all.

my only question is why are we playing Kuyt not Benyoun on the right of the 433 ?

Think hes looked a little disinterested when he has started this year although he does warrant a lengthy run in the side at the expense of kuyt.

We are winning this way, why change it?

not if we keep playing the same formation we have been lately

He's a millionaire, he's at LFC, he shags Abi Clancy, what is there to feel sorry for?

He's been nothing special this season anyway and his work rate has dropped off. We're only playing one striker at the minute anyway so shall we drop Torres for him?

Agreed.

Think he can leave in the summer and just pay a years wages in compensation; thinks he's been planning to do this for a long time and refused a new contract last summer. Can see him joining Man City.

Because Kuyt holds his width on the right and is playing an excellent role for the team.

I fail to see why people want to change something that has worked recently. We've played a consistent front three, a consistent formation and had a fairly consistent selection for a few games now. Why change what is clearly working?

What has he done to justify playing a system to suit him. We seem to have finally grasped the idea we do not have the wingers to play a 4-4-2 wide game and are playing a system that suits our best players, what in anything's name has Crouch done to justify changing the set up to suit him.

Will add I considered changing Kuyt for Crouch after an hour and moving Torres to the right, so poor was Derek, but eh, all theoretical like.

I think we are working towards a 4231 to be honest. Look how far up the full backs have been recently, and how deep Torres' partner plays. Imagine the back four as they are, with Masch/Alonso/Lucas in front, with Babel, Gerrard, Kuyt, behind Torres. Now imagine a decent right sided attacker instead of Kuyt, and we could be onto something.
