I still think it's something of an issue for Rooney mainly but it's working. Ronaldo scoring so many goals from a free role makes it work, and I suppose you dont really want a centre forward demanding service or clogging up the channel in that scenario, one of the major problems between him and Van Nistlerooy was that Ronaldo wouldn't stay wide and put cross after cross in. But the whole thing does rely on great movement, plenty of it and lots of understanding, if they are anything like jaded, it doesn't work and they could do with just slinging in some crosses to a number 9. So another winger and another number 10...

It may be over priced, but Lyon won't sell for a penny less, they don't need to. He's probably the best young talent in French football. Big gamble if United pay £40m on that pair, especially with all that debt they have to keep in check. Wouldn't be easy keeping the likes of Nani happy either, as their first team chances would be limited more than currently.

Lyon never seem to let good players leave unless they get a very good offer.

I went to the Rangers v. Lyons game back in December - Benzema tended to drop very deep and drift out wide, pick teh ball up and run in to the box from there. He's very strong and pacey, and finished very well, but I'm not sure how good a centre forward he is based on that evidence - he's not a poacher and didn't look like he was all that strong in the air.

Benzema would be good in the Prem but Ben Arfa is far too lightweight.

I actually think its not a bad shout. Giggs won't play forever and Saha looks on the way out. I could see those two at thier club.

 

I'll say it quietly and deny it til I die if anyone asks again about this, but I am a little jealous of the manc team.
