June, after taking the job at Newcastle:

He said: "My job relies on winning football matches at first-team level, so I will adjust everything accordingly to make sure every game we go out and play, I give myself enough time.

"The only time I will get is by winning football matches, not losing them.

"I know I won't get any time if I lose them. I will then be a casualty like everybody else has been a casualty over the past few years.

"I know the responsibility and I know the only way to make the time I need is to get the results everyone wants as quickly as we can.

October:

"I haven't been sacked since 1995 at Blackpool and I don't want to be fired again," said Allardyce.

"The game against Sunderland is massive. We want to win and I want my team to show who is the best in the North East.

"I have waved the magic wand before, but I'm not so sure I can wave the magic wand as quickly as they would like here. It is probably more volatile and more unacceptable than I expected.

"My long-term is only going to be long-term if I get results. As good as Mike Ashley the owner and Chris Mort the chairman are, if I don't get results there is going to be pressure put on them, never mind me, so results are the name of the game.

"It will take three to five years to get this club where I want it to be. I will get that time if I win football matches. That is the bottom line. Keep winning and you keep getting there.

"Over the last three to four years this club has not done much anyway. This club has not had success for 50 years, apart from brief periods under (former Newcastle managers) Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson.

"It is not as if I am starting from getting the club into a position where it was before, or used to be when I first started. It is about progress. Instant is not sustainable."

by the same reasoning that we're doing ok cause we're 6 points off the top, they're doing ok cause they're 4 points off 4th place.

Sams quote in September

Rafa would be very lucky to be in a job if he hadn't got to two Champions League Finals, because they've had some very, very poor finishes in the Premier League.

"While they're a very good Champions League team, they're not a Premier League-winning side yet. They don't have the mentality to win that yet.

"Being a foreigner, Rafa doesn't understand it's supposed to be Premier League first and Champions League second."

"Only Europe has saved his skin

fatheads comment in November now he realises he is under pressure.

People just need to show a bit more faith and a bit more patience in the managers they ultimately choose in the first place themselves and give them the time they need to do the job and not to knee-jerk react.

"They need to be brave and true to themselves

d****ead, hope he gets sacked soon so we can all laugh at him

Newcastle barring the portsmouth result have had a good start to the season, Where's all this pressure and sacking talk come from?

They also lost at Derby and the only team that ever loses at Derby is Derby.

He want 5 years and says winning a few matches along the way should guarantee him a job security.

Yet he also says the if Rafa doesn't win the league this season he ought to be fired. No matter of a few major trophies along the way.

Fat, delusional, crooked wazzock.

Smith as defensive midfielder and Barton on the right wing. Genius.

I can see why he wants time - to solidify them and get strong but average players playing above themselves week in week out. Like he did at Bolton. But will finishing 5th or 6th (perhaps hoping Owen can fluke them into 4th one year or hoping for a Carling Cup success) every season (which is surely best case scenario) justify the time, expense, dull football and inevitable huge rebuilding job once he moves on?

f***ing hell!

I hate Allardyce as much as the next man but the Geordies are complete f***ing gobs***es. He's been in charge for a few months and they want him out already, f***ing stupid, s*** accent, no shirt wearing c***s.

I hope they get relegated. Sick of the sight of them, sick of their delusions of grandeur and sick of their s***e support "Shoes off if you love the toon" f*** off to the Championship!
