I don't believe the calm down bit.

Some people really are desperate to get on Pennant's back, they have been since he arrived. I'd imagine his outstanding form has been very frustrating for them.

As for this story - firstly it's probably either untrue or grossly exaggerated (the calm down bit is doubtless total b*llocks), and secondly who cares even if it is?

Why people post this kind of sh*te is beyond me.

The story is from the f***in S*n.

Someone just posted the link on TLW forum.

My favourite post in that was

'24yr old man in drunk at weekend shocker'

It's international week, he's not been picked, I'd say it was an ideal time for him to get a few beers in.

If he maintains his current form on Saturday then he can do what he likes 7 days before a game.

so basically pennant had a few on sat night - no big deal...no mention of any trouble at the nightclub, then later there was a fight in a pizza shop...which pennant was trying to break it up..

weird, doesnt seem like someone causing trouble to me.

the mate he was out with looks to have caused a scene and got himself arrested. pennant by all accounts tried to calm things down but being smashed he didnt get too far. i dont see pennant having put a foot wrong

All this criticism that Gerrard has received from certain quarters on this website, and forums, has been pathetic. How can you criticise a player for wanting to wear the England shirt and help his country qualify for a major championships? If anything, playing this weekend has done us a favour as he'll be more match fit for the important game away to Portsmouth - we all saw him cramping up after 70 minutes on Saturday.

It was like the idiot who was glad that Alonso got sent off after 20 minutes for Spain on Saturday. I'd have much rather seen Xabi stay on the field and put in a great performance, so he comes back to Melwood buzzing.

If you don't want to see your team's players competing in tough international matches, go and support Everton.

ask newcastle about players on international duty, after Owen played..... how many games was it for newcastle in the last 2 years?

Yes I want Gerrard, and all the others to be regarded highly by their countries and win caps etc. But I don't want them to be risked for game england could have won anyway. Why not put him on the bench, and bring him on if we are in need? What if it flared up? With out fatty, hargreaves and carrick too, what then?
