Aye read that.

For me, he could be a better midfield player than Steven Gerrard because he is more complete.

Dunno what the hell he means by more complete. Seems a ridiculous thing to say at this stage of his career. Just a load of old b******s really.

The reason the kid stands out at the minute is his positioning is poor and he has to make a load of last ditch tackles to cover mistakes and him being out of position

wrongly i think

and its just his opinion

i think he was perhaps harshly treated at southampton, but nine months spent playing salao in brasil doesn't make you a football god. and i think he's talking out of his hoop if he genuinely believes that richards has anywhere near the natural football ability of someone like gerrard.

What do you reckon his value is at this point? 20M?

If Shinawatra is as stable and rich as he says he is, beyond the usual "every player has his price", I don't see them selling unless for silly money - £30m+?

EDIT: Though he hasn't signed a new contract has he yet?

Was very surprised no one went in for him before Frank took over at City. Would take silly money now, and he's at Jerome Anderson's agency, so he'll probably end up at Arsenal anyway.

I can also think of several better man markers in football at the moment than Micah Richards.

Pontus Kaamark for one

Richards is an unbelievable athlete, explosively quick and strong but he has a bit to learn about the football side yet.

I actually said on here last season that I saw him moving into the centre of midfield from right back in the same way Stevie Gerrard did, and I'll stand by that but to start making comparisons with Gerrard now is just stupid, let alone saying he'll be better than him.

Richards has that atheticism and dynamic burst of speed Gerrard does so I can see the comparison in that sense and it's why I thought he could play in the middle; but he doesn't have anything like Gerrard's quality on the ball or passing ability which is obviously a massive part of playing in central midfield.

I think Richards' future is as a centre half or Viera type central midfielder. So I can see the centre of midfield thing but where I completely disagree with that pillock is in his description of Richards as being a 'more complete player' than Gerrard.

How exactly is that? Can he pass, shoot or beat defenders like Gerrard? Er, no. Is there anything Gerrard can't do that he can? Er, again no. Richards is England's most outstanding young player for me by a mile, but ridiculous comparisons like that aren't going to help his career; he's basically comparing a talented kid to the most complete footballer in the game and saying he's more complete.

No-one in the world game has every box ticked the way Gerrard does, he hasn't got a weakness in terms of ability.

A year ago many were suggesting that Momo would go on to be better than Viera.

And what is to the stop the 22 year old from still doing that?
