Imagine if he was English the press would have him hyped up as the best ever.

He never gets mentioned in those circles except from reds and jocks when its blatantly obvious from some of the great players comments about him that they all thought he was up there.

In amongst the greatest of all time in my opinion (which is worth feck all)

I miss seeing kenny Dalglish in football.

What disapoints me about the way football is portrayed now on TV and in the papers is that its all about the greatest Premier League players. They have these video montages and its all Di Canio and Le Tissier and Cantona, good players though they were. Kids don't see the rich pantheon of what went before. Not just Dalglish and Liverpool players but what about the other good teams and players from the decades before SKY and the premier league ?

Ssshh! They might realise Man United weren't that good after all.

If football was covered in the same way then as it was now we'd still be seeing endless clips of Dalglish's magic. Now, every backheel is repeated ad nauseam. Damn the modern age.

Wonder what he and Rushy would cost if they was playing today.

forget that

we sold Keegan for £500k and bought Dalglish for £440k

how's that for net spend?

we had no ambition as a club back then...

It annoys me greatly that I was born too late to watch him play.

All the youtube compilations are rubbish. There's footage of a lot of great strikes but I'd like to see more of the blinding bits of skill, great turns, passes etc.

courtesy of the guardian blog. a one hour long documentary made by Scottish TV about Kenny Dalglish. there are six parts, the other five linked from part 1 here

that's great stuff

one wonders how long Dalglish has to wait for his knighthood for services to football....

can't imagine he is either

but i also can't think of many more deserving figures in the game.

Doesn't look like he's ever going to get back into managament so why wait til he's 90 ?

Theres nothing you can say about him as a player, its all been said already.

As a manager very underated, theres not many men with 4 titles knocking about, and to do it at 2 clubs is an extraordinary achievement. Yet you never hear it apoken about. Its a great shame his 88 side didnt get the chance to play in Europe. Its easy to romanticise but I just can't see how they would have been stopped.

As a man the way he conducted himself around Hillsborough makes me want to weep.

A friend of mine made a programme on him for ESPN & said he was the most charming and affable person, shes actually got his mobile number! How cool is that. How hard would it be not to phone him when you came home drunk!
