Do we see the answer to England's left side problem after all these years. Ashley Young looked like a tricky winger who is comfortable on the left side of midfield. Will SCS notice though !!!!

I agree that Ashley Young looked very good. He certainly put the schits up our defence whenever he got the ball. Definitely good enough to play for England, but whether McLaren has the brains to select him is another question.

Macidiot does not have the brains to do so.

The only way he will get in the England set up is when The Sun or Mirror tell him he should play for England.

The problem Young has in Downing, and we know how much Mac loves him. Followed by Joe Cole, I am not a winger but I play for Chelsea and I am the greatest one trick pony so I play.

for a wee while there I thought you had mis-spelt Melchiot :wacko: why the f*** you would mention him in a thread about Engurland is beyond me, and only added to the confusion in my heed.

Hangovers are great arnt they :unsure:

He'd get in ahead of any of our left wingers and any of our right wingers. He guarantees you 10 goals and 10 assists every season and works his b******s off, great player.

I think if we had Joe Cole, he'd be in and out of our team. Start a match here, on the bench there, etc. He'd do ok for us, but wouldn't make much of a difference relative to Kewell. And he's certainly nowhere near the level of Gerrard.

like garcia, although a bit more consistant.

No he doesn't, you mentalist.

No player guarantees x goals a season, especially one that averages a goal every nine or so games.

He's a good little player though, as whinging, diving little cheats go.

I agree with Maldini.

He is a diving, snidey little b*****d,but Cole is a very good footballer.

And yes,he would walk into our side.

And mentioning Kewell with regard to our left side really gets my b******s.The bloke hasn't played properly in years,so we've no idea how good he is/isn't.He might be great,he might not,we just don't know.

How many points do you reckon England will need to qualify?

Current table:

Croatia 7-17

Israel 8-17

Russia 7-15

England 7-14

FYR Macedonia 7-7

Estonia 7-0

Andorra 7-0

I think the're going to need about 24 (assuming two go through - that's right, isn't it?)

It is top 2 go through, no playoffs this time.

Next up for England are a double header of home games against Israel and Russia whilst Croatia play the bottom two. Things ought to look a lot clearer after that.

I think it's going to come down to who takes the most points from the 2 England-Russia games - with Croatia topping the group.

That's how I read it too. Don't fancy England to get a result in Russia either.

England failing dismally to reach the Euros will make me very very happy.

Deserved humilliation for SCS and the FA, Gerrard will get another summer off, and we won't have to put up with the press, and the likes of Ian Wright bigging up England's chances, when deep down everyone knows we're just going to bore everyone to death before going out.
