Rafa seems to be thinking that his value will only rise.. But prices could be at their highest now with the new tv deal, new owners and bonkers spending. The transfer market may well be topped out

 

I doubt we're so flush now Rafa doesn't have to sell to buy so Carson is our best asset to raise funds

Agreed. Also, keepers seem to be a hot commodity at the moment, so fees are at a premium. Competition for places is essential, but considering Reina's age, unless he implodes there is very little chance of Carson taking over as no. 1.

He's a VERY good keeper. I'd be amazed if he'd be willing to be backup here.

Some 'news' services are claiming we told Man City that the asking price is £12m. So it looks like we would be prepared to sell him if a club matches that price.

Not necessarily that we are not interested, rather that Rafa's valuation is nowhere near Del Nido's. And rightly so.

why not try to sell carson with a option to buy back for a low price. that way we can get him off the wages plus if there is a contingency later we can buy him back.

The Mirror has it as £2.5M for the year and Villa pay all his wages as well, don't see how we could possibly lose if it's true.
