Magic8Ball Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 LIVERPOOL are interested in reuniting Carlos Tevez with his Argentina team-mate Javier Mascherano in a stunning summer swoop. The pint-sized West Ham striker has exploded into form over the past couple of weeks with goals against Tottenham, Blackburn and Middlesbrough. He has also captured the imagination of Upton Park fans with his refusal to give up on the club's fight against relegation from the Premiership. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez currently has Barcelona star Samuel Eto'o at the top of his shortlist with Charlton marksman Darren Bent also high up. But he has apparently been impressed with the hunger and work-rate of Tevez and is now weighing up a move for the Hammers hitman. source can this be true? --- to be honest I've not been that impressed by Tevez and find it hard to see where he would fit in given Garcia, and Voronin -on current form Tevez seems to be an inferior version of Rooney - we need more creativity and goals would Tevez fill any of those needs ?

alias75 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Not sure why you havent been impressed with Tevez hes a full Argentina international thats found himself in a relegation battle and if you ask any west Ham fan hes been their best player by a mile and that includes when they were constantly losing games. Hes now started scoring regularly and his attitude has been first class. Think hed be a good signing although i still think we need another type striker too. Tevez is more of a number 10 than a number 9 but he is capable of beating defenders and could be an excellent 2nd striker.

Dublinred4ever Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Would be a less wasteful alternative to Garcia, if rafa was inclined to let him go?
honourablegeorge Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Tevez and Kuyt up front would be a beautiful sight. Well, not beautiful in that way. You know what I meant.
McBain Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Makes sense. But it's also an obvious story for a journo to write
surf Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Why on earth would we let Garcia go, scores important goals and can play in a number of positions.
Dublinred4ever Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Why on earth would we let Garcia go, scores important goals and can play in a number of positions. Absolutely, but is often sloppy and loses posession very easily. It's an obvious flaw in an otherwise very good player. If Rafa saw an alternative who was less wasteful, like maybe tevez, he might be tempted. Especially bearing in mind his fondness for Argentinians. Just playing Devils advocate
Buzz Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Masherano didn't impress at West Ham either, but look how he has turned out. Now, if his game has improved because of the better players around him, how good would Tevez be with better players around him. I am aware of players looking good because of s*** players around him, but these two were quality before they got here.Having said that, not really sure we need him, or a player in that position. IF transfer funds are 30/40 mil, surely it would be better spent on other area's unless you can off load someone already in that position to make some money back. Now if say Garcia was to go this summer, rght near the end of his contract, we aint gonna make that much on him are we?. SO unless the turmoil and charges that west ham face mean he is a free agent then that maybe a different matter entirely.
12twelve Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I don't think Tevez is a 'Rafa-type' player at all. Too selfish on the ball.
Rimbeux Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 source can this be true? --- to be honest I've not been that impressed by Tevez and find it hard to see where he would fit in given Garcia, and Voronin -on current form Tevez seems to be an inferior version of Rooney - we need more creativity and goals would Tevez fill any of those needs ? I make you right on that one. Way before he came over here I was at a loss to see what was so special about him. Near every time I saw him, he just made me think of Bellamy, good tricky player with some pace and a competative streak, but not enough goals to be the main man, or enough guile to be the playmaker. Dont think he's better or different to anyone we currently have
Flight Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Does, Luis, like Xabi, have the option to buy himself out of his contract this summer, at a knock down price ?
Guest Sabre Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 He's clearly another one of those players that is better surrounded by good players
Guest Ant Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I don't want him, but I didn't want Mascherano either...
Ben 23 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 He's a second Milan Baros, just sticks his head down and runs directly at the goal.
Tones Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Can i be the first to say (and mean it!) Please let this be true!
Owen1978 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 He's got excellent footwork He's a high profile signing
Stevie H Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I don't think Tevez is a 'Rafa-type' player at all. Too selfish on the ball.which is exactly what we need right now.
Red Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Tevez strikes me as the type of rare player who has the ability to change the game with a little bit of magic. With Garcia and to lesser extent Kewell out, we've sometimes missed the vision and ultimately the goals this type of player brings.
honourablegeorge Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 He's as close to Rooney as you'll get. We'd be MAD not to try for him.
Guest Kaizer Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 (edited) I`m not sure about Tevez, good player no doubt about that, but I would rather have Saviola than him. But would Saviola hack it in the PL? I`m not sure and I think Tevez is better suited to this league so there would be arguments for both, but like I have said earlier I would not be surprised to see 3 out of 4 strikers leave this summer, so its clearly a possibility.
