Reina, Valdes, Canizares - they all had the Dudeks.

Reina made some crutial saves last night as well as having a 5 minute DudekJamesitis spell where he was swatting imaginary flies for a bit.

I thought Reina had a great game, tbh. Very proactive and Saviola would surely have scored if he hadn't come out of his box so quickly. I don't think there's a keeper in Europe faster off his line than pepe.

Fec off, Pepe is ace. Would'nt swop him for any other goalie in the world.

He saved our bacon on a number of occasions last night, and his style of 'keeping suits us to a..to a....tee!

To be fair to the thread starter, I think he was just referring to his dodgy 5 minute period at the end when a couple of crosses deceived him.

 

If not he should be burned.

lol yer, but one of those superman impressions could easily have caused a goal. they didn't which was lucky.

the 3 or 4 brilliant saves again reaffirm how good a shot stopper he is, but the 3 or 4 flaps again don't do much for reassurance at how good he is at dealing with crosses.

you have to be able to identify positives AND negatives, as i'm sure rafa will be doing with him.

Just his closing few minutes of brown-trousers action. But burn me anyhow, to be sure.

I thought he was generally excellent throughout. Made a vital save when we were 1-0 down (unless it was a block by the defender, I wasn't too sure), also saved from Deco (I think) at 0-0 when he was wrongly flagged offside.

 

Came absolutely flying out of his goal in the second half superbly - any other keeper and there's an excellent chance of a Barca goal there. Also saved well from Saviola in a one-on-one, despite not being able to hold it.

 

He f***ed up at the end, sure. Completely missed the ball and was bailed out by Carra. I'm not too sure about the second one though - the one that hit the post. There was so much bend on it that I don't think any keeper would've got near that - not that it looked like Pepe wanted to anyway.

 

But as I said, overall, I thought he was excellent.

to be fair, honourablegeorge is on quite a run today! This, and his Kuyt and Bellamy posts, he's giving Kev a pretty good run for his money

I see the nit picking has started.

 

We win one of the biggest games in a long time and people want to start picking it apart.

 

A nice generic title "Spanish Goalkeepers" and off we go pulling Reina's performance apart.

 

We won, he had no chance with the goal, he made some great saves and he was saved by the goalpost. same things happen to every keeper in every game.

He is one of the best I've seen to get out wuickly and clear anything that might get dangerous. Lille's goalie was the opposite vs man u. However Pepepepepepepe is very average on corners and similar situations.

Don't put Reina in the same catagory as the other Spanish keepers. He is far more consistant and it's no coincidence he keeps more clean sheets than many other keepers. At times it's like having another CB he is so quick off his line.

I'm just glad he had his five minutes in Europe. Against premier sides, generally they have more men in the box, it could have cost us. He was class apart from that spell and I was more pissed off with Kuyt for missing that header. I am sure if it wasn't for Reina's quick reactions Saveloy would have a free shot at goal when he went through in the second half

Pft, he's perfect for Rafa's tactics .And if anyone's in doubt: I think he is a very very good keeper.
