Took me to my first ever game, which was all I could think about on the way to the pub tonight, what more of a gift could I have been given?!

 

Football and LFC means such a lot to people, its been trivialised in the wake of Nick Hornby (who wanted to do the opposire in fairness.

Pundits ranted on about all not being well in the Nou Camp etc. But, Rafa set the team out in a way that gave Xavi, Ronaldinho, Messi and Deco no chance of influencing the game. If he hadn't have done that you would have seen them players paying freely and inevitably playing well. Rafa didn't allow that. Classic Managerial performance by the great man.

Playing a right back at left back against Messi was a stroke of genius; never noticed the thinking behind that until after the game!!!

There are times I'm almost driven to tears through sheer frustration at the lack of respect shown to Rafa. I know the untrained monkeys that pervade football analysis in our country are not worthy of the man - and yet I bite every time.

 

Not only do we only ever win through good fortune/other's underperforming, but Rafa basically picks his team like the lottery balls - randomly. Added to that, by moving Steven Gerrard to position that benefits the overall team, he is displaying definite signs of a man who does not know what he is doing.

 

Just imagine how unbeatable a team managed by Charlie Nicholas might be? Or Paul Merson? Or Andy Gray? It would be Liverpool of 87/88 vintage football with no mistakes and no goals conceded. Real shexy football, eh?
