Mentioned this briefly in another thread but wonder what others think. I've always thought Benayoun was a good player. I'm not sure if West Ham would be looking to sell but Curbishley might be tempted to increase his funds, particularly if Young is going there. I think Benayoun has a lot of skill, can see a pass and is a decent finisher. In fact, he could help to fill the void left by Garcia's injury. There were rumours that Rafa was looking at him after the FA Cup final but I'm not sure if there was any truth in those.

I think the rumours came about because Rafa was asked what he thought of him, and gave his stock "he is a good player" answer.

This obviously meant we want to buy him.

I think he's OK, but perhaps not the quality we want from summer onwards when hopefully we'll be looking at better players. Scored a cracker at the weekend.

I think it was Houllier who was originally linked with him before he moved to West Ham, whilst he was playing in Spain (for Santander was it?).

He can be good on his day but I wouldn't take him - just another slightly better than average player for me.

ive watched him before his move to the premier league he has great control but easily knocked off the ball ,still he could stand in for louis for a while i suppose.

Then Luis comes back and.......? Not to mention we will have Leto coming in with possibly others too.

I've met him.

He has a very pointy face.

Something we lack, but that may ultimately not have any impact on progressing us to the next level.

we either sell or keep him as back up

So that'd be £Xm on a player we sell 6 months later and would we get what we paid for him? If we keep him what do we with the other back up players such as Gonzalez, Pennant, Leto, Aurelio, Zenden and Kewell will be back too.

We don't need Benayoun we bought in players like Pennant, Gonzalez and Aurelio to boost the squad and first team. We use them for these exact circumstances.

Decent player, but we need to be setting our sights a little higher in the summer.

A top class winger is more important for us.

FFS this thread wouln't happen to co-incide with him scoring two goals this weekend. He has good games every now and again but is mainly too lighweight and peripheral in games.

correct. this player will look like he is world class in 1 game and then be AWOL for the next 4 or 5.

he looks good at West Ham because they do not really have any decent skll players. away from Upton Park he is poor.

Substitute the words "a little" for "much" and that is spot on.

Sounds exactly like one or two of our players. He'll fit right in.

according to reports in israel west ham are looking to sell.

and i dont think it is fair to judge him based on this season as he rarely played.

he is full of class and i think he can fit in the squad.he is a very clever player with good dribbling skills and a decent finisher.

although he isnt as good as garcia,i cant think of someone better at the moment with a decent fee.he also has a winner mentality wich is very important.

and by the way, when rafa was managing valencia he was tracking benayoun closely and is certainly an admirer.

I'd rather have Malbranque to be honest. Watched the Spurs game yesterday and he was superb. Very direct player who scores and provides assists.

Was linked with us for years. :D

I would rater have Cuddlephone from Spurs. He looks like a real class player. Imagine him in a good team.......
