An anorak writes: At the end of his live single version of 'Coming Up,' he can be heard chanting the name 'Kenny Dalglish'. I also met the man a few years ago and he said he always had a soft spot for Everton because his Dad was a fan, but he followed the Reds now like his brother Mike.

There is an interview with linda from 1980 in that horrible rag today apparently, they are running it because apparently it refutes claims he used to hit her etc

Anyway, she says they stayed in the night before listening to a Liverpool match on the radio, desperate for them to win. She says he used to be an Everton fan but is a huge Liverpool fan now

Always under the impression that, despite none of the Beatles being that into footie, McCartney family were traditionally Evertonians.

But Lennon's were Reds.

:D

There was a pic of him going to the 1966 FA Cup Final in last season's Cup Final programme...

68 Final.

According to Neil Aspinall - 'keeper of the flame' and right-hand man for years to all the Beatles and an earlier interview with Ringo in 'Rolling Stone', John and Ringo were Reds, despite Ringo's dad (a Londoner) enrolling him in the Gooners fan club), McCartney was a Red after being ambivalent (the 'red' bit came as a result of being taken to see Liverpool against Man United at Anfield in the 70's by Jimmy Tarbuck) and George was the only real blue.

*Note: The late Mal Evans was a Red, as was Brian Epstein, whose dad was a friend of John Smith.

its obvious that none of them had in any interest in football whatsoever otherwise they wouldnt have spent there teenage years sat in a bedroom writing love songs

Wrong - and not for the first time...Albert Stubbins was featured on the cover of Sgt Peppers - Lennon's favourite Liverpool player.

I think that one speaks for itself?

Of course, Ian Brodie who spent much of his teenage years in his bedroom writing love songs also has no interest in football whatsoever - neither does Elvis Costello, or did Billy Fury...

Everton - one of my neighbours is really good mates with him - to the extent that he was invited to McCArtney's wedding. He talks to me about footy & I asked him to ask McCartney red or blue next time he saw him. He came back with 'blue'

This little snippet from a Mr Elvis Costello would seem to make your mate mistaken:

'"I have gone to this gig - about 1990 - I have just been working with Paul McCartney, we had written these songs together [on the album 'Spike'] so I had gone to see him play at Wembley Arena, and one of his security guys comes up and says 'would I come along before the concert ended?' So we go to the backstage door of Wembley arena and the only other person that has been given the nod in this way, to say goodnight to Paul and Linda, is KENNY DALGLISH! So there is me and my wife and Kenny standing at the backstage door and Paul and Linda and the band run off stage, covered in towels and say 'Great! Thanks for coming!''

Howard Kendall was notable by his absence (or was that absinthe?)

His mam was Catholic and his dad was Protestant, he said on the Beatles series in the '90s.

=> he was raised as a Catholic

=> Blue
