From a business point of view, it will increase revenue, which with a similar or reduced cost base should increase profitability. From a football point of view we are one of the most succesful teams in europe and moving to a new stadium will not change that. If we go on a triumphant march to consequtive domestic and european success' that may not be a direct result of moving to a new stadium.

Yes.

Although the fundamentals of the game just about remain in tact (pass & move) the overall 'game' is now a business, and the landscape looks far different to how it did 50, even 10 years ago.

It's the unfortunate necessity that many clubs face to stay alive and or get bigger.

Make us better? That's down to the players on the pitch. The extra revenue will of course aid this.

Will it make us a bigger, better club?

I know this is something people won't like but it's costing us a lot of money...and that is corporate boxes. I believe we have 8 charging between £3.5k and £4.5k a game depending on type of game. Whereas Arsenal now have 160 boxes! That's a shedful more moola they'll make just on boxes than us until we get our new ground! :(

What, bigger than Liverpool?

You would not be able to say its a ground full of history of the game of football. It will feel sterile. I would hate it if the built a new ground for United.

Dont worry mate you already have a sterile ground void of real history ;)

Yes, absolutely.

It will increase revenue and make us a more competitive team.

It will attract more supporters.

It will allow new people to attend on a week-by-week basis who will be passionate about the club and have been shut out up until now.

There is one caveat though. The ground needs to be designed with a lot more character and thought. The plans we have seen up until now are really soul-less.

As a club you are enormously fortunate that the location of your ground has allowed, and will continue to allow, any expansion you deem necessary. Not eveyone is in the same boat - we certainly aren't.

i would if they took the word "football club" off our badge to make us a brand

or changed the name of one of our famous stands and name it so tourists can easily find there way around

If they're going to make a single tier kop and other changes to the original design then i'm all for it, won't be too pleased if it stays like in the .tv listed plans

i'd hate it if we sold our business [sic] to the americans who saddled the club with a ton of debt

You're actually ascribing soul to an inanimate hunk of concrete, steel and plastic. The only reason the current stadium has this 'soul' you speak of is because of the memories made there. It's character is brought about through years of use and nostalgia and any 'thought' which was put into how it was built, could only be described as reactive.

The new stadium will eventually become as grimy and tired and then hold it's own charm, but while it's shiny and new it will be sterile and 'soul-less'.
