Rimbeux Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 s****!! We always play terribly on ITV for some reason. Zonal marking
Guest KJI Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 is it on in Scotland though - we have the fun of watching celtic if they are in the same time bracketits usually better if we are on ITV4 as i can always see that (it isn't regionalised

Billy Talbot Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I seem to remember when complaining to ITV about our scheduling - they told me that 99% of the time they put an away fixture on ITV1... Seems to hold true on this occasion...

Seems to hold true on this occasion...Makes sense as there'd be fewer fans at the away game with greater viewing figures and easier access to the terrestrial channel.
Guest KJI Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 thanks for the info - thats good news. at least i should get to watch all the games now. Not so good for the wife / in-laws - they are all Arsenal fans so will have to compete with ManU / Celtic for coverage :-)wont have to worry about TV scheduling till after the group stages
shaq Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Makes sense as there'd be fewer fans at the away game with greater viewing figures and easier access to the terrestrial channel. Not sure that's really relevant - attendance at a home game is around 40k, which is a tiny proportion of the potential TV audience anyway.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Weird, we're usually only on ITV1 for home games.

Scally Bob Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Chelsea are a mickey mouse club with no fans whereas we are the most successful English team in history with supporters everywhere. I don't know why it's a surprise that we are on ITV1.
billybunter Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Went to London today and heard an advert on the radio for Chelsea vrs Bremen "get your tickets now!"
Guest Marshy Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Every time Utd play on a Tuesday (ITV's day) they'll be on ITV1 regardless of how important Arsenals fixtures are.
Gethin Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Not sure that's really relevant - attendance at a home game is around 40k, which is a tiny proportion of the potential TV audience anyway. It's probably that it's cheaper for ITV to show the away game as they don't have the expense of producing the broadcast. Just have to buy the feed from the host broadcaster and supply commentary
Stevie H Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Went to London today and heard an advert on the radio for Chelsea vrs Bremen "get your tickets now!" chelsea seem to be advertising all their matches at the moment. half-page ads in the evening standard etc. they always have spare tickets available, particularly for european games it seems.
DJM Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 thanks for the info - thats good news. at least i should get to watch all the games now. Not so good for the wife / in-laws - they are all Arsenal fans so will have to compete with ManU / Celtic for coverage :-)wont have to worry about TV scheduling till after the group stages Celtic play on different nights from us this year thank f***. Means we'll get all the Tuesday games unlike last season when we had Rangers on ITV1 and ITV4
Guest KJI Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 i remember last year - spent most of the time in the kitchen listening to the radio.the worst ones are where you get Liverpool on ITV1 and celtic on ITV4 - but of course up here you get Celtic on ITV1 with the Scotsport commentators and celtic on ITV4 with the english commentatorssame feed but 2 crap commentaries. i could look at itv.com but i spend all day in front of a PC - don't want to spend all night too - and the missus may have a few choice words if i did :-)
