Andy @ Allerton Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Couldn't believe the lack of Chelsea 'fans' at the game yesterday - looking up from our end it seemed amazingly empty - their bottom tier at the back was empty, their right hand side (from our view) side-on bit although appearing full to the divide was actually full of neutral and Liverpool fans - their middle tier had a far few in -but the top tier was pretty much empty. Same in Cardiff afterwards - a group of Chelsea fans here and there (in their allocated pubs) - but just a sea of Red from every direction. Poor fans in every sense of the word.
Stevie H Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 there's a bit of a backlash from long-term chelsea fans at the moment who feel they are being ripped off by the club. for their friendly against celtic last wednesday they were charging £40 - £60 for tickets.

Scally the Wag Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I would ask you to take notice next time you enjoy Riise's goal to watch the gentlemen in blue behind the goal (especially on Riise's left side)... They appear to be jumping in delight as the ball hits the net. Nice to see quality being recognised impartially...

I saw that this morning when I watched the first half of the game after returning home - he must have had a bet on Riise for first goal?
Scally the Wag Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Not just one Andy, there's a lot of them moving the same way...
floyd Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Chelsea are NOT a big club, no matter what the southern press say, so no surprises
Guest CheshireRed Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 What was that? Profitable by 2008? Oh dear...
Andy @ Allerton Posted August 14, 2006 Author Posted August 14, 2006 Not just one Andy, there's a lot of them moving the same way... Only got in by about 1 am - so can't quite remember - I was a bit zonked. Delayed slightly by some a****** pulling the emergency chord on the Brum New Street to Stafford connection (It arrived instead of the advertisted 30 minutes before the Stafford train at New Street actually 2 minutes before the Stafford train was due to depart) and as the Brum train was delayed to Stafford going out - we had 16 minutes for the change - but was delayed by 23 minutes. Thankfully just as all the Liverpool fans on board were steeling themselves for a miserable night on Stafford station - the announcer reported that the Liverpool train was being held back so we could get back to Liverpool! Hurrah!
Montse Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I travelled down from Reading with Chelea fans who fortunately managed to smuggle me into O'Neills whilst I waited for my Liverpool mates. The pub was full but not packed, when they came we went down to the City Arms which was rammed inside and out fantastic atmoshere. I was in the corner and the view of the empty seats was almost embarassing. They rarely sang and you only knew they were there when Shev scored where as we were singing and clapping throughout - great day!
Leo No.8 Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I think even more telling than their poor turnout yesterday was the fact that their fans couldn't muster a decent noise for either leg of a Champions League semi-final. They really are embarrassingly poor at supporting their team.
charlie clown Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 more than how it reflects on Chelsea's fans it kinda shows what a shambles the F.A.'s ticketing policy is for these games. Tens of thousnds of Liverpool fans desparate for tickets, tens of thousands of Chelsea fans not in the slightest bit bothered about turning up. I hope they remember this next time either of the two teams are involved in this kind if game again.

gkmacca Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I suppose the absence of fans encourages the cameramen to focus on Roman 'Chauncey Gardner' Abramovich all the time instead. Gawd, that stupid, vacant-looking grin of his drives me crazy!

Gawd, that stupid, vacant-looking grin of his drives me crazy!I always think he has bits of tissue paper stuck to his chin from cutting himself shaving... but its not, its little patches of grey stubble... I know what you mean about that vacant grin... utter tosser.

R A Softlad Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Some of the reactions are pretty small time from the Chavs and Mancs.
