Huyton_Red Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Call me a mad old fool if you want.... But I am absolutely convinced we will win it this year and I tell you who will be the main man. Robbie Fowler Seriously, the lad is a bona fide genuis, born with a gift. He let himself go to the dogs fitness wise and I was one of his biggest critics just before he left us, but set pako on him for a full pre-season added to the five months he spent training from January May andwe are gonna see the lad super 'rafa' fit . We then have our genuis up front, the lad who can do something out of nothing, a prolific finisher, the one player we have never had under Rafa. We will all be sat here next season talking about how Robbie Fowler was the best signing Rafa made, I bet yeh. Utd and Arsenal are gone, dont care what anyone says, they are rubbish, the pair of them and are not spending any money cos they owe about a billion £ between them Its us and Chelsea, everyone can talk about how much money they have spent, but it is not about that, it is about how much they have improved, if anything I think they will get less points this season and will play 4-4-2 a lot more with an england like unbalanced central midfield of Ballack and Lampard. I think the additions we have/will make improve us a lot more than the additions they have made. Seriously, f'ck chelsea, f'ck that russian gobsh'te who never gets a shave, we are gonna win the league, champions league, FA cup and our kids are gonna win the worthington cup. Number 19 with a scouse centre back, centre midfielder and centre forward. F'ckin ell
Guest ziggystardust Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 so we will win the league because we have fowler???? would we win the league if we swapped chelseas schevchenko for him. Who would win the league then, us or chelsea because they have fowler. Laughable. Also chelsea will still play the same formation, makalele will be sacrificed for essien. They will be stronger this year will kalou being a better player than duff.

IgPig Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Also chelsea will still play the same formation, makalele will be sacrificed for essien. They will be stronger this year will kalou being a better player than duff. Mourinho doesn't seem to think so. Has already said they are playing 4-4-2 with a diamond formation in midfield, so they are sacrificing at least 1 winger if not 2.
Guest Budo Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 also ballack is the best midfielder in the league, schevchenko might be on the slide though. WTF? He's not now, or never will be, a patch on Gerrard! Don't believe the hype lad.
Guz Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 The side that finished above us is out of the title race already! Must be a new record to be out of it before August
Guest Cally77 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Fowler is better than Shechenko. Anyone who knows about the game can see that. And Gerrard, Alonso and Momo are better than Ballack, Lampard and Maccalie. Job done.
Mike Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 laughed when i saw this huyton me old mucker.its been a while since you've done one.i remember at least 3 from preseasons past
Huyton_Red Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 s*** enough to be on the same level as us in the league despite having O'Shea and Fletcher as their central midfield Who they will STILL have in central midfield next season With alan smith up front And all the money going to the bank to pay the £70 million interest
Tobes Rafa Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 For what it's worth I agree with Huyton about the league although I mightn't have pinned it all on Robbie's chest to be honest. I do have a feeling he will have a stormign season though. Can't wait for May 07!!
12twelve Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Chelsea are going to put Ballack, Makelele, Lampard and Essien in the same midfield, that's why they are keen to sign Ashley Cole to give them the width. Not sure it'd work though, it did work for Porto mind...
Guest Cameron Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 It's possible that with all these superstars signing for Chelsea, they may end up imploding, in which case we could push them all the way.But really it's hard to see us finishing above them. I think we'll finish 2nd, ahead of Manure and a***.
stressederic Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 also ballack is the best midfielder in the league, You're having a laugh Fowler is better than Shechenko. Anyone who knows about the game can see that. And so are you.
galés rojo Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Chelsea are going to put Ballack, Makelele, Lampard and Essien in the same midfield, that's why they are keen to sign Ashley Cole to give them the width. Not sure it'd work though, it did work for Porto mind... Only Essien and one of Ballack/Lampard are suited to a diamond. Essien is the perfect player to play on th right of a diamond he's athletic, can drive forwards etc but also has planty of defensive bite about him. Ballack/Lampard are suited to playing at the top of a diamond but neither are suited to playing in other part of it, and Ballack is the better player so he should play. Makelele can play at the back of a diamiond but im not sure he has long left in him. They could play a flat 442 with say one of Robben/J cole on the left and Essien on the right but if they play Lampard and Ballack together im midfield it just doesn't work. Too many chiefs not enough Indians so to speak.
Bootle Buck Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I think we are in serious need of a forward to be honest. After half a decade of injuries and poor fitness fowler cannot be counted on as anything other than a luxury forward. If he comes good then great but we need alternatives.Bellemy has had 5 knee ops and often gets injured (or could end up in jail or something : )) So that only really leaves crouch as an out an out forward which is not a great position to be in. Garcia can play up front I guess and Kewell can if he's ever fit. For a full season I think we deffo need another robust forward. I think an aggressive Forward upfront who will unsettle defenders would be ideal creating chances for the likes of Fowler and Garcia. Someone like Klose would be ideal. He causes problems for defenders which leads to others getting chances as well as putting the ball in the net too. I would love to see Robbie play off him.
Earl Hafler Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 We did very well last season and were only a few games away from winning the title ( a win at Anfield against Chelsea, a win against the worst Manc midfield since...) and we may improve this season. But..Chelsea have bought Sheva, who makes Drogba look like Kevin Francis. The problem for Chelsea will be making their midfield of Ballack, Lampard, Makelele and Essien compliment each other. Imperative that our away days in London improve dramatically.

Zoob Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I do think we still need another forward, but if Fowler stays fit and his body can keep up with his football genius brain, I think he'll have a fantastic season.

Players will leave and others will join. Great players looking for a huge pay day offering a couple of seasons before heading off will be the norm without much of a financial hit for them. They got Shev we got Bellamy. Big fecking difference. Hopefully Rafa can spin a bit of magic but he's not a magician. Personally I'm disapointed by our summer signings. Gonzalaz was last years signing. Our new Argie CB is 20. Cheryou looked great in pre season also but was crap when it mattered. Bellamy is the only player to be excited about and noone ever mentioned him other than being a c*** before he joined. We've lost 3 big name players already and for me we are weaker right now. Zendon to replace Hamann is a joke. Zendon is s****. Unless we sign a class RW and a top class CF then I think we're a cup team yet again. Not a bad thing but the truth.

Knox_Harrington Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 We're immediately stronger by improving on Cisse with Bellamy and stronger again by having Pennant as part of the squad what with him actually being a right mid. When Gonzalez was signed is irrelevant. He didn't play for us last season, him in the squad will only strengthen us this. Paletta and Agger will offer something. Zenden, while he isn't s****, may not be Hamann but will offer more going forward. He played very well through the middle two seasons ago. So we're stronger than the squad which got 82 points. Add another centre forward and we're significantly so. Add one more player beyond that, perhaps another right sided player or a centre mid and we're stronger again.
