Joshytoohotty Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 In 2001 when Mikey won it that was the Owen Cup Final. Yesterday surely belonged to Mr.Stevie G. UnrealFantastic I still can't get over it.

You know what though I agree with you. There's something really special about Steven Gerrard. A player who just won't be denied, the God's were against us yesterday (og, Reina mistake and a fluke) but he just wouldn't let it go easily.. A Colossus, an out and out Footballing Colossus! I still cant actually believe that went in yesterday, 90th minute of a Cup Final about 35 yards out, he's injured and he just picks out one of the best strikes i've ever seen. It really should even happen but he's capable of it. The way he's also matured so much is quite staggering, his interviews now are brilliant. He's like my second da and first brother all rolled into one aswell and i'd like my sister to marry him, ok i'm getting a bit carried away now but you get my drift. Edited May 14, 2006 by CarraLegend
Gomez Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Add Ray Kennedy to that list.. You know what though I agree with you. There's something really special about Steven Gerrard. A player who just won't be denied, the God's were against us yesterday (og, Reina mistake and a fluke) but he just wouldn't let it go easily.. And the rest, no one seems to be mentioning Crouch's legit goal that was ruled out when it wasn't even close. Kewell getting injured, Even down to the fact that the pens were at the west ham end. It seemed everything was against us.
Andy Mac Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 I reckon if we can keep hold of Benitez, Gerrard and Alonso and get some pace in the team, then the next 5 years (or more) are going to be one hell of a ride. That equalising goal yesterday was without doubt one of the best goals I have ever seem. I know Shearer said it after the event but the amount of skill needed to do that is immense. I think you're right, Dave. He's becoming one of the all time best Liverpool players.
ZZZZ Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Pepe said in his notes on the other players friday on the offish that Stevie had the best shot he has ever seen. He certainly lived up to that billing yesterday
chrisbonnie Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 i think its now without question, that when he finishes his carear with us he WILL go down as our best ever player he`s now on the road to being our most succesful captain, theres nothing he cant do, and as an irish man im scared of what he can do for england in the world cup truly outstanding, ill hold my hand up and admit i doubted him BIG TIME after the carling cup last year, but my god hasnt he picked that buring jersey of his and threw it straight back at the jit that set fire to it thank f*** he didnt go to the chavs, they wouldnt be beatable with him in the team
Dule Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Sven wont pick him as a attacking midfielder. That is stevies best position, and that is why Rafa wants to get a good RW, so Stevie can play higher up the pitch and do what he did int he FA cup on a regular basis.
Ostrich Man Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 and hes getting better all the f***ing time. c****.
billybunter Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 and hes getting better all the f***ing time.c****. His penalty yesterday was something else - to be completely honest, it was at that moment that i realised that he wasnt just world class but something really special.
Gunga Din Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 (edited) i've been saying it for a while now. but look at our starting eleven, and Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Reina, Carra and Finnan are as good as anyone in the league in their respective positions. i would stick Hyypia in that list but he is the wrong side of 30 and we mightnt see him at his peak much longer. but with those 6, i think we have the nucleus for another great Liverpool Dynesty, not just one that will rule England, but one that will put us back on the very top of European football. Rafa for my money is the best manager in Europe, and with the addition of two strikers worthy of the name, and a bit of natural width, i think we might just have our best season for many years next year. i cant f***ing wait!! Spike Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 he's a legend alright. As for working towards the best player ever to wear the shirt -all I can say is that he is that f***ing good and versatile a player that the team isn't built around him. You just know he'll be twice as good as whatever other option there is.

Maldini Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 (edited) People will accuse me of exaggeration, but for me he's right up there with Ronaldinho as the best player in the world. Obviously Ronaldinho is more skillful, but if you're looking for someone to change the course of a game in a instant I don't think there's anyone I'd rather have in my team than Gerrard. He's scarily good, he could go on to become one of the all time greats, not just for us, but the game as a whole. Edited May 15, 2006 by Maldini
Michael Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 For me Dalglish is still the greatest Liverpool player ever. I suppose it's unfair in some ways to compare them because Dalglish never had Gerrard's drive and ability to lift a team, but there again no British player ever had Dalglish's footballing brain.
fyds Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 How dare you miss out Joey Shabadoo was sh*t Kev. People will accuse me of exaggeration, but for me he's right up there with Ronaldinho as the best player in the world. Obviously Ronaldinho is more skillful, but if you're looking for someone to change the course of a game in a instant I don't think there's anyone I'd rather have in my team than Gerrard. He's scarily good, he could go on to become one of the all time greats, not just for us, but the game as a whole.Yes - agreed. he must though keep his feet on the ground and make sure his head can always fit comfortably through doorways - many a potentially great player has failed to make the final gold mark because other peoples opinions of them have only been exceeded by their own. We should employ Totti to stand behind him on victory parade buses in future and whisper in his ear 'Remember, Stevie - thou art mortal'.
fyds Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Yup, and Del Piero, Gazza and RaulSpanish and Italian are fine - Stevie may struggle with geordie though...'Whay-ay Stevie lad ann'all - remember like kidder, ya's mor'al ya knarr!'
ozziecazzie Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 When Stevie's thunderbolt went in, the overwhelming feeling I had was the same as when Gary Macalister's free kick against Everton went in.It was weird. The absolute same feeling, and I hadn't felt that at anytime beforehand. ... then I realised that this was the FA Cup final. Ecstasy!
