Really like the way he was constantly calling and gesticulating for the ball, he's brimming with confidence at the moment, probably finally feeling the love from the previously sceptical.
That's amazing. Luis also dragged two defenders out to the edge of the 6yard box leaving a gaping hole for Skrtel to head into - as good as an assist It was unreal, had Downings volley eluded Jaskalainen it would've been goal of this or any other season
This Henderson business has got Lucas written all over it: rated, trusted and played by management, doesn't immediately pull up trees so mistrusted and un-rated by (many) fans, who slowly begin to see his worth as the managements trust in the player pays off in time.
Quite. And I'm sure this is how most mancs feel as they jam out yet another turgid, insipid victiory on the way to the title Most of me always thinks that... f*** the press, they'll never love us til we're champions
pointy Keane at LA Galaxy "finds the twine" in the 21st minute http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/soccer/post/_/id/10517/galaxy-a-perfect-start-for-keane
This is true, including of myself - need to remind ourselves any good team is built out of sweat and toil and good luck and most importantly good leadership. I reckon we finally have that in place and it's only a matter of time before we click and start play consistently good football to go along with the results. Doesn't rhyme
Henderson was fine if unspectacular in the 1st half. 2nd half the collective collapse of confident response to robust oppo from Sunderland exposed him and Flanno particularly. This will happen again, with other players involved in the scapegoating by impatient/frustrated fans. We should talk about the collective first and bring individuals into that debate. Not fair on Henderson to have his debut singled out like this. ps: not having a go at the original poster, just think the analysis of Hendersons game yesterday belongs in the match thread(s)
Really encouraging (at times very exciting) first half; then an inexplicable collapse of confidence, fitness and positioning in the 2nd. We have to trust this will be addressed...and maybe it'll be no harm to have our expectations dampened a little, or at least tempered with a little of the reality: It's a new team, they need time/games to gel Fair report here from Dion Fanning: http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/newlook-reds-fail-to-shine-2847923.html
Totally agree on both counts. Unfortunately it'll probably be Miereles sporting a John Waters style pencil tache beloved of ponces from the fashion world.... Maybe Johnson could be persuaded to get his cornrows back and grow a "Rick James"
That's an interesting read. He reckons his own best position is CB. Obviously likes to read the play ahead of him and has a good passing range I reckon Kenny and DC are attracted to his attitude and sense of responsibility. At Blackpool he carried the heavy burden of being their captain/leader/best player - released from that attacking and scoring onus and surrounded by better players I reckon what we have in mind for him is a deeper lying playmaker, dare I say: like Xabi ....or he could be s***
he's obviously 2nd choice, something up with Enrique - probably the Barca interest. I wouldn't be upset, can play a bit, is fast and, as stated above, Clarke (and Kenny) can fix him like he fixed Skrtel
That's just a starting offer from the stingy old lady, hopefully we tell them to stick it and Milan come in with a bid. IMO he's staying in Italy no matter what and we'll end up getting 10 or 12 mill
