  1. There is always a section of away fans in the Upper Centenary for European games.
  2. Surely they won't put any Mancs in the Upper Centenary for this game? Carnage if they do. Similarly for us at their place.
  3. John Toshack used to write what might loosely be termed poetry. He had a book of poems published, entitled: "Gosh it's Tosh".
  4. Sussed our crack Enigma-level code used when taking corners: 1. Corner taker has one arm up - straight to the first man; 2. Corner taker has both arms up - straight to the goalkeeper.
  5. Anybody else remember a really s***ty Mirror article- in fact, it might even have been an editorial - following an interview with him, along the lines of "We know what you really said, Bob" implying that he had been racist? Years after he had retired. I always kind of put that down to the dementia (presuming that they had taped the original interview and that is why they were so bullish in the editorial afterwards).
  6. Owned. Not run. Nothing to stop a fan-owned club from employing industry experts to do what they do best. Edit - sorry, just seen Jarg has already made the same point. Not sure how important Ayre is? A dispensable fall-guy for FSG? Does their bidding? Has been badly shown up by this, though. Agree with previous posters, I bet that he was telling Boston that it was just "200 divvies" involved, and there was nothing to be worried about. Patronising get.
  7. Fan ownership. Has to be the way forward. The American "model", if you like, has failed miserably in the UK - unless you are the owners, of course, intent on "monetising the asset". "Turning fans into customers". A Freudian Mission Statement if ever there was one!
  8. Surely we should look at the socio model, as evidenced in Spain for example? Members pay an annual fee and get reduced ticket prices. The membership fee is a few hundred Euros per season. Non-members pay more for their tickets. So, regulars pay less, but once-a-year kid's birthday types pay full bat. They can buy a membership if they want, sure, but for a few games a season it's not economically viable. Don't see a problem with this?
  9. Loads walked out. Absolutely loads. I'm in the Upper Centenary, and I was surprised just how many walked out from there. With only three days to get organised, I don't think it could have gone any better. I see Carra walked on 77 too. At least a third. At the very least.
  10. I read that at first as if it was written in backslang!
  11. We were, and for some reason this has annoyed me. Probably turn out to be a superb player.
  12. What disappointed me was that he didn't seem to think "Right, I'm going to get the ball and batter these. I'm going to run at them, beat them and shoot". Instead he seemed to opt more often than not for a flick to somebody else. Didn't look like he wanted the responsibility.
  13. And yet initially was regarded as a waste of £16m by a lot of people.
  14. Agreed. He is now the one who will try what Danny Murphy always refers to as the "brave" pass, as Garcia did.
  15. To be fair, Rodgers' post-match comments after that Chelsea match fuelled the theory that Smith had been played to make a point to the owners.
  16. Had to smile when he said that we were through to a "half-final", but he does have an excellent command of the language.
  17. I obviously have no insight into what is happening with Sturridge, but it somehow seems more pointed given the sad passing away of Gerry Byrne. As Tony Barrett said on Twitter, how many Liverpool lads playing footy over the years were encouraged/exorted/intimidated to play on whilst injured by their Dads on the touch line reminding them of what Gerry Byrne went through in the 65 Cup Final?
  18. What an absolute shame for Danny Ings. He is made for a Klopp team.
  19. Coutinho is following the standard haircut path of foreign players - I.e. Their hair gets shorter the longer that they are in Liverpool.
  20. Felt a bit sorry for him yesterday. The Milner back pass, intercepted by Sterling. Sterling passes to Aguero, who feints and then shapes to shoot. Lovren, meanwhile, has got back, is on the line and throws himself to head it away. Great defending. Could have been a potential turning point in his Anfield career. Except that Mignolet saved the shot.
  21. I wouldn't bother anyway.
  22. Was that really over 6 years ago?!?
  23. No, that's not the one. There was a mid-week game where he came on as a sub. He was definitely booed coming on. I started a thread about it on here, called, funnily enough, "The booing of Lucas". It was an absolute disgrace. Can somebody dig that out of the archives, for the date/match etc?
  24. Absolutely this. The Cup Final 96 against the Mancs was horrible in so many ways, but not least staying until the very end. Our end baled pretty quick that day.
  25. The lad is 21 years old and plays for Germany. He is not a bad footballer.
