I'd go with stupid. A bit old school racist even - i.e. Far happier to sell to Tom and George rather than "the Arabs". But I really don't think he did it to further line his pockets.
Can"t understand or agree with anybody who is content with selling Coutinho. And the amount of stick that he is getting for the Europa Final is ridiculous. He wasn't by any means the only player who didn't turn up that night. If anything, it probably highlights just how much we rely upon him for creativity.
"I did hear of the possibility of us playing our first 3 or 4 games all away from home" It's 1987-1988 all over again, people! Ole, ole, ole, ole, we are the Champs, we are the Champs!
Quite a scrap in The Kop at the end of that game, I seem to remember. On the left hand side (as you stood on it) where the Bluenoses congregated back then.
I'm not. Our track record in replacing quality players is hardly encouraging (Suarez for Lambert and Balotelli, anyone?), plus Coutinho is one of the few players we have that has the potential to be world class. A couple of years ago you could entice players to Anfield by saying that they'll be playing alongside Gerrard and Suarez. Now who? And, whilst Coutinho did have a poor game against Sevilla, he was hardly the only one and did more than enough last year to not make him some kind of scapegoat.
The Mirror linking us to Higuain - and he's not even deterred by us not bring in Europe next season! Which is lucky. No quotes. In fact, it doesn't even say that we are interested. Apologies can't get the link on my iPad
And yet, on the day, the people of Sheffield opened their doors and let us phone home. Loads of them. No problem with them. I have much more of a problem with Forest than Sheffield Wed. I've said it before, but I really do think that had Hillsborough have happened against almost any other club, there would be a strong bond now between us and that club. With Forest? Nothing.
Greet the coach organised for Thursday. King Harry, 6pm+. You know the drill, people. Needs to be a really big one, this. No room for complacency here.
Tony Barrett has said that they have put Joe Allen on a weights programme to bulk him up. I hope that it is the same one that Divock Origi appears to have been on!
The icing on the cake for me about last Thursday was that the Club had a change of mind and didn't put any Mancs in the Upper Centenary. Common sense clearly prevailed in the end, thankfully. And before anybody says about how that would have been great given the score etc, you just know some of them would have resorted to Hillsborough.
I'm not in my Season Ticket seat in the Upper Centenary as It is one of those where away fans sit for European games and I am one of those who gets moved along. I can only conclude, therefore, that they are putting 200-250 Mancs right in the middle of the Upper Centenary. Sharing the same stairwell to and from the seats, the same toilets and the same food and drink areas. What could possibly go wrong? Madness.
Was just going to say the same. Compare the total package of transfer fee plus wages for Aguero and Carroll and they are light years apart. Not a like-for-like comparison.
