  1. Juve: -40 points to conveneintly miss relegation by 3 or 4 The rest: -15 points to miss CL. After today the prosecutor hasn't the balls to lay down the law properly...probably.
  2. Controversial statement of the day: I would sign Placcy given the chance. Pako and Carra would sort out the diving and stepovers in 3 weeks. He could be taught how to cross more effectively in a season. After that he would be world class (and I mean that in the true sense of the word). There, I've said it.
  3. Seriously, he needs to man up like no other. Anyway, any day that ends with him crying is a good one.
  4. Why? He's not that good...
  5. His performance yesterday was amazing. Only his performance against Real Madrid in the 2001 CL semi comes close. I'd still sign him - even with Momo around. Although his price probably just shot up.
  6. My support criteria this World Cup has been (in order) 1. Ghana 2. USA 3. Teams with most Liverpool players As such, I will be supporting England from here on out. One team I definitely hope gets knocked out is Brazil. I'm tired of everyone shooting their load over this samba nonsense. They're good at football but the whole thing is just overboard now and it's really annoying me.
  7. I meant in an injury crisis, not all the time.
  8. USA did better than Mexico last World Cup... Not to say USA is better than Mexico, but they aren't worlds apart. CONCACAF is an easy region, that's an undeniable fact. In my opinion though, it's just a case of the US team being looked down upon so that their failures are accentuated and their triumps attenuated. USA isn't great at football, but they aren't the worst team in the world. Like most of the teams in the World Cup outside of the traditional powerhouses, they have a decent chance of getting something out of most matches and it just sort of comes out to what happens on the day. Just for comparison: 1994 - Mexico and US both knocked out of the round of 16 1998 - Mexico out in round of 16, US fail to qualify for knockout stages 2002 - USA beats mexico in round of 16, USA loses in qtr finals 2006 - Mexico out in round of 16, USA fail to qualify for knockout stages I think USA have done a decent the World Cups in recent years and Mexico haven't been that much better.
  9. The USA's recent record against Mexico is very good (but never mind facts getting in the way, eh?). If the USA doesn't deserve to be in the top 10 - and they don't - Mexico doesn't either, considering they play almost the same set of opponents. Date Score -------------------------------- 13-Mar-99 USA 1-2 MEX 01-Aug-99 MEX 1-0 USA 11-Jun-00 USA 3-0 MEX 25-Oct-00 USA 2-0 MEX 28-Feb-01 USA 2-0 MEX 01-Jul-01 MEX 1-0 USA 03-Apr-02 USA 1-0 MEX 17-Jun-02 MEX 0-2 USA 08-May-03 USA 0-0 MEX 28-Apr-04 USA 1-0 MEX 27-Mar-05 MEX 2-1 USA 03-Sep-05 USA 2-0 MEX
  10. The U.S. just had a bad World Cup. The Czechs had a bad one too as did the Argies in Japan/Korea. There is no need to over analyze it.
  11. Joaquin has been quality.
  12. I will consider the baby had. He's not bad in the box is he? Maybe it's something we should consider.
  13. Greatest match ever!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:
  14. That was f***ing unreal. I did a double take.
  15. You'll pay for including Ghana I don't understand why Europeans mock the US for not being a football-playing nation, but then do everything in their power to discourage them when they do try to play. Which way do you want it?
  16. Regarding Gerrard's performances, don't you think being played as holding midfielder often is linked to being an underperformer? Seems like a cause and effect to me.

  18. You cannot be serious.
  19. Straight swap for Villa?
  20. I can see what Crouch brings to the team in terms of maintaining possession, etc. And I know he wasn't necessarily bought to be the primary goalscorer. However, it is so damn frustrating when he gets 3 free headers 8 yards out per game and all he can do is float them into the keepers midsection or bounce them harmlessly into the ground. He needs to improve his finishing, particularly with his head, because he gets the opportunities and he should be putting them away. His conversion rate must improve next year, no question. Decent first season - that is all IMO. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Nothing relieves pressure in an away match like a goal, nothing makes the team play better like a goal, and nothing gets the midfielders more involved like a goal.
  21. He actually is. I think all the problems he has with ball retention, passing, and to a lesser extent shooting are all down to composure. The best part is he's sorting thigns out by the second. I think we may even see a delightful chip of the keeper from Momo at some point next season
  22. With the arrival of Gonzalez and Zenden being fit again, I think it is really best for him to just sit it out as long as it takes to get this thing sorted, if it's possible. Of course they should strap him up for the World Cup, as he shouldn't miss that, but after that do all the cutting, snipping, and fixing necessary and just wait until he's as good as new. He doesn't deserve the torment he's going through.
  23. But 4th choice when 3 are guaranteed to start? Whoever it is would get plenty of games.
