The issue of booing aside, no we shouldn't. People keep making this comparison, but there is one fundamental difference - Gerrard stayed. Sure it's not great that he got close to leaving, etc, but when the final decision had to be made, he always stayed didn't he? It's the difference between thinking about cheating on an exam and actually doing it, for instance. Humans think about lots of things - that's the way we are - but at the end of the day it's the actions that say the most. For that reason, Gerrard's situation is not comparable to Owen's.
