It's simple - it's just a subtle message to Carra and Hyypia that the youngsters are closing in on them quick. Sami's basically already been caught by Agger and Rafa's just saying "Carra, you're next unless you get the show on the road". That's my interpretation of events.

I don't care whether or not he's having a pop. He's right though. What Alonso said - that is captain speak. He's obviously felt this way for a long time and didn't say anything publicly about it. But now he's realized that sometimes you have to call it as you see it and that's what Xabi's done. I applaud him for it.

We could be starting to borrow for the stadium and thus be 100M in debt nominally. But I doubt we're just 100M in the hole for no reason a la Leeds.

I agree. Pennant just doesn't want to know. Gonzalez is still trying to figure it out. It's a key difference.

I'm sorry, you're worried about Gonzalez when there's Pennant to worry about? Gonzalez at least tried to do something, and was good in the first half. Pennant just waltzes around in his ridiculous white boots getting knocked over every time there is a cough in the crowd.

I'd put him back on the right and put Zenden on the left for Pennant. Pennant is terrible. Anything is better than what he's done today.
