I haven't read this thread so apologies if this has been said) but I think Trabzonspor was Hodgson's Burnley game. He went there with a very under strength side and in the full knowledge that we could get turned over. Obviously, this would lead to mounting pressure and added grief from fans and press alike. It took cojones to do what he did yesterday and fortunately it paid off. We were pants and lucky not to concede nore in thre first half. We controlled the second half. Hodgson did look under pressure on the bench but now we have a fresh Torres and Gerrard for the West Brom game and a win under our belts.

I've given Puslow a list of targets and he's dealing with that. I'm the coach of the side. I accept they weren't his actual words but the point I was trying to make was that Hodgson is the coach (and identifier of players / target)s and leaves transfer dealings to Purslow et al.

Same when discussing with the media about Torres and Gerrard/ the sale of the club. He publicly states he wants the board to get their arses in to gear and sell the club, he states he really wants the best players to stay but can't nail their feet to the floor and was probably as pragmatic in his discussions with the players themselves. I really like the way he deals with things. He's obviously intelligent and uncomplicated but frank and straightforward to deal with. I think this will transmit itself to the players and staff and hopefully on to the pitch and the running of the club.

Excellent signing. It's certainly a sign of intent from the club, RH and Cole himself.
