  2. Sad couple of months for the Hammers losing Greenwood & now Lyall. RIP.
  3. Stevie G for me. Even thinking back to those CL qualifiers last July, how mundane they were & how like training exercises they were but one man stood up above all of that and showed true class. Reina, Finnan, Carra, Sami & Riise were team of the year. What a back 5 - unbelievable.
  4. Kromkamp ? Carson ?
  5. Glad somebody else thinks the same as me. I haven't a clue what he meant, so I Googled it and the first 100 returns were exactly the same meaning as I had in mind
  6. The guy is straight out of the Kevin Muscat school of Australian full backs.....no talent so resort to kicking anything that moves.
  7. that's certainly no overstatement. He's so Alan Hansen.
  8. I'm with ya there. They were immense.
  9. Bremner & Keegan were sent off for fighting, but Giles had chinned Keegan before that in the same game, '74 Charity Shield. Giles often refers to it and says he is ashamed & embarassed by it and wouldn't condone it in anyway.
  10. Yeah, the fine they'll receive will really hurt them and make them stop doing this
  11. Thanks for that. That sounds like a great programme.
  12. Did Sol Campbell get any "treatment" from the Pompey fans ?
  13. That'll explain the location of your left hand in the pic then
  14. That question should be posted on a Toon site. Although, it probably has been by now
  15. I don't think there was any trend in this. Some teams' centre halves wore 4 & 6, other teams centre halves wore 5 & 6, other teams wore 4 & 5. Bobby Moore wore 6 through the 60's & early 70's [ Jack Charlton wore 5 alongside him in World Cup '66, with Nobby Stiles wearing 4 ].
  16. Why sell the goose that laid the golden egg ? Is it not the case that Stevie G has generated 10m-20m for us in one year alone by staying with us......I sincerely doubt that we would have won the CL without him [ his goals against Olympiakos & AC Milan back that argument very strongly & this is not a "one man team" argument]. The revenue generated by winning the CL in 2005 added to the fact that it qualified us for the 2005/06 CL as well, added to SG shirt sales etc, must surely come to 10m-20m. Yes his salary balances out a small piece of that.....but if we have to replace him with 2 or 3 players then that argument goes also. Very short sighted view to sell him in my opionion but I wouldn't castigate the original poster for throwing the question out.
  17. Perhaps she's been hired to come up with a ditty for Steve Finnan.....after all, nobody else has !
  18. Not so much a caption as a headline..... "Carra caught in a Kenneth Williams moment"
  19. Parry sacked
  20. His daughter is a bit of all right ! And $50m on her wedding ????? That's even more expensive than Cisse ! http://www.nriinternet.com/Section3Who/Who...r_Appointed.htm
  21. Didi for me.....he might even have a smoke on the touchline

    Should never have sold Igor
  23. IF we (at least) draw today and beat Fulham on Wednesday, then next Sunday at Newcastle will be an ideal game to give 4 or 5 youngsters a start. It's just 2 days before the Brum cup game, so it would benefit most of the 'regular' first teamers not to have a game next weekend. Getting 4 points over the next two games would lessen the consequences of such a risk at Newcastle as a top 4 place would then be very likely anyway.

    Nerves

The last 15 minutes tonight are going to be real brown trouser time. Unless we are 3 or 4 up or 2 or 3 down [ and I can't honestly see it being either ], then the whole tie will be still wide open and its going to be almost unbearable again.
