First of all, I'm Irish, so I'm not particularly interested in OBEs, MBEs or whatever. But being an LFC fan, it is easy to get caught up in all of this honours nonsense and I get a bit miffed at the Sir Matt Busby, Sir Alex Ferguson and Barry Ferguson MBE or whatever mullarkey and it seems to me from a distance that there is some conspiracy against the city of Liverpool for whatever reason. Then I read this post "http://www.ynwa.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=105227" about a forumite's brother-in-law killed in conflict in Iraq and I think, "what the f***?" , I think about Michael Shields and Stevieboy2k.........then I realise that it matters not one iota that Stevie G or Jamie C or whoever become part of this bi-annual pantomime of awards. Let's forget about "Sir", "OBE", "MBE", let's call them Matt Busby, Alex Ferguson, etc etc etc.....why get upset about Tony Blair or the Queen or some anonymous Civil Servants earning a salary deciding who deserves these farcical awards. Tony Blair placed the UK's troops in Iraq, yet on a weekly basis coffins are returning with little or no recognition for those fearless & brave souls within, but Barry Ferguson gets national press coverage ? There is something not quite right about that. To finish my rant, I would understand if Stevie G or Carra accepted some accolade or other from the establishment in the future........but for now, I would like to think that they don't give a f***, as LFC fans don't give a f***. They were brave men on a football field.....but I know that they are men enough to know that there are far braver men & women out there in Iraq or in other unfortunate situations around the globe. Rant over.
