  1. i dont think we have any set formation. the players rafa has bought are flexible, at times yesterday it was 4-2-3-1, at other times its 4-4-2, even 4-2-4 or 4-5-1. its being as flexible as that it allows us to break teamms down, to pass the ball around other teams. opposing managers find it very hard to worjk us out, thats why we dont lose too often
  2. sorry, you are right, it was 58. but on a counter point to that, we lost 14 league games last year. so far this, we have lost 2
  3. he was. he was excellent
  4. well, back for a while now, but you know the craic by now. anyway, a couple of years ago, even last season, that was one of those games that you thought we could fail in, not win, possibly lose, a tough game. Today, i felt none of that, turning up today, i expected nothing less than a win, against, IMO one of the best Spurs sides in years, certainly one of the best organised. Even at half time i had little doubt, despite the first half being poor. it shows just how much progress we have made under Rafa when teams like Spurs are coming to Anfield and trying to hold out for a point. our workrate as a team today, was phenominal. infact, its been good all season, but were the last few years we have relied heavily on Gerrard, and before that Owen, this season, every single member of the team plays a very important role. we are a TEAM again, not a one man band, mot even a two man band. Arsenal rely so much on Henry, like we used to rely on Gerrard, the Mancs its Rooney and Ruud, but with us, we have moved away from that. yes, we have still our star players, the Gerrard's and Alonso's, but we dont rely on them. we rely on the team, the workrate of the team, the fantastic movement of the ball that allows us to pass the ball through even the most well organised midfield and defence. thats what has allowed us to go on the run we are on. We are only 11 points shy of our entire total for last saeson, and in mid January, in all our premiership games, and our three group games in the European Cup, we have only conceded in one game. rafa is building something very special. today was a tough game, Kewell topped of a fantastic display with a stunning goal, Spurs never got a sniff, i dont even think Defoe got a touch of the ball when he came on, and Mido and Keane certainly seen very little of it. onwards and upwards YNWA
  5. i love threads like this. brings it all back. did we ever find out who the Milan player was who was tying his bootlace as the pass to Vladi for the secong goal went right by him?

  8. Newcastle are around £90 million in debt. its a Leeds waiting to hapen up there. with all the moaning that goes on, on these boards from a few posters, relentlessly posting about our board, it may not hurt them to take a look at other clubs, Arsenal, Man U, Newcastle, Chelsea minus Abramovich, and have a closer look at their finances. it might make them appreciate what we have here
  9. isnt Arbroaths Ground right on the coast? and also Hartlepool and Stoke City played at the Victoria Ground at the smae time. different grounds, but same name

  13. that was my initial thought too
  14. there is a book called "The Kop" by Stephen F kelly, a new updated version. what makes this book particularly worth reading is that there is an interview with me in it! but aside from that it is a very good read.

  16. very sad, what a team they could have been, Sir Matt, to take what was left of that disaster and mold a European Cup winning team took some doing. a legendary and classy man. the fella who sits behind me on the Kop actually remembers Busby playing for us. reckons he was a decent player too. him and Paisley, two of the greatest managers of all time playing in the same side.

  18. just hasnt got what it takes to play for us at the highest level. there is a gulf in class between ressie football and the top of the premiership, and Mellor is falling between two stools, not good enough for the firsts, too good for the reserves.
