  1. I would hope that that is the end of Liverpool players ever talking to Winter. That is pure, unbridled character assasination and the comment on his father's death is way, way beyond the pale.
  2. From the Irish Times http://www.irishtimes.com/sports/soccer/20...4255350990.html Liverpool set for Saudi investment A Saudi prince has revealed he is set to make a significant investment in a Premier League club, thought to be Liverpool. It is believed the Reds' owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are prepared to sell a 50 per cent stake in the club to Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah in order to help balance the books at Anfield. "We are currently seeking to buy 50 per cent of the shares in the club which is now suffering with debts worth £245million (€266m)," Fahd bin Abdullah, who chairs private firm F6 and a Saudi-based holding firm called Fama Group, was quoted as saying in Al-Riyadh. "The transaction, upon which a decision is close to be reached, will be worth £200m to £350m (€217m - €380m)." A spokesman for Fama declined to comment, but it appears that the Premier League could be set to welcome further money from the Middle East.
  3. How can you say that something is "Absolute and utter b******s" when you clearly don't understand the first thing about what you're looking at? You don't even know what "financial year end" means but yet you know that KPMG are untrustworthy? A fellow fan - and I don't know the guy on RAWK but he knows what he is talking about - has done a lot of work on the topic and all you do is give him abuse. As was quite clearly shown with the disclosure of the Aquilani fee by Roma, the media generally get these numbers wrong and often spectacularly so. Its only through the examination of the audits that we can begin to understand how much cash was received for players and how that cash is used.
  4. Barrett in the Times says we only have 2m. The Snoogy Doogy quote gets another run out. Sol Campbell come on down..... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle6799714.ece
  5. Nigel Spackman. Big part of the 1987-88 team but wore that silly headband at Wembley and played instead of Ronnie Whelan....
  6. I've watched him singing "This is the best trip I've ever been on" on the BBC website over and over. Its like a car crash. He'll be gone by the end of August. Also remember a quote during the season when he said "a Phil Brown side doesn't do that". Self regarding tosser.
  7. I live in the US and have refused to watch/listen to the guy since the first incident in 06. That is a brilliant letter guys and is exactly the way to deal with a situation like this. Well done.
  8. At the moment no one can refinance. Generally, its in both the bank's interest and the borrower's interest to kick it on in the hope that something turns up. Likely G&H (or LFC) will have paid a nice extension fee and maybe a higher margin on the debt. Six months indicates that something, like an equity injection or sale, may well be in the hopper. Usually a year's extension is more common, or what ever term it takes to make the loan facilities repayable in more than one year. Otherwise the accountants get jumpy when it comes to the annual report.
  9. That still gets to me. And Alan Smith knows he cheated. Love to get him to confess to that.
  10. Sounds way too intelligent for Jenas! How could he get done for this and Ferguson not get done for the semi final rant?
  11. Andre Marriner never explained the disallowed goal v Stoke did he?
  12. Keane is spectacularly bad. He has no balls whatsoever.
  13. Someone's confusing him with Neil Lennon.
  14. Exactly. We've got to consider that it is at least in the mix as part of the cause of our decline. And I thought Rafa was spot on when he he sid it.
  15. We're third tonight. Villa win and they're 1pt behind us. Team of tin men today. No heart.
  16. I think its because he wore the number 3 shirt for us..... Staunton played him in midfield too.
  17. Yep, that incident did my head in. Not mentioned by the commentators either.
  18. You really are on fire today!
  19. Yossi Aurelio Agger
  20. Thought that was straight out of a "you are the ref" question from Shoot. He clearly and deliberately denied a goalscoring opportunity. Worth a yellow for unsportsmanlike behaviour at least?
  21. what did Sherwood say? bad enough having to put up with the commentary here in the US..big shout of 'yes' when Portsmouth went 2-1 up, stunned silence when we got the winner.
  22. Indeed.
  23. "No additional debt covenant". Standard in all leveraged transactions. Interest free or not, the loan would require permission of the existing banks.
  24. yeah we're very backward here - no soccerball on TV at all etc etc we get 3 games here every weekend on FSC, another one if you have setanta. here's a link to the FSC schedule for next week - as you can see, our game with Sunderland is on live. http://msn.foxsports.com/id/8411392_37_1.pdf generally any pub with an English or Irish name is going to be showing the games. Hotels don't normally have FSC.
  25. but can he throw a kettle over a pub?
