He was one of those guys who got old quickly. Basically done for Ireland before he was 30. I remember the goal against Belgium at Lansdowne and a very nice one against Switzerland in a 3-0 in the Euro 84 campaign. Just shocked he is gone - with so many of that era like McCarthy, Whelan, Brady, Lawrenson still so visible. Like with Davie Langan, the Irish crowd of that era knew and appreciated whole hearted commitment.

We've looked a lot like Everton did last week against Wigan. Nobody turning up and some performances that were barely worthy of the term 'professional'.

5th gets UEFA no matter what 6th will only get it if Utd, City or Chelsea win the FA Cup and the runner-up is already qualified for the CL or the UEFA Cup. So one of them beating another one of them is the best outcome. If Spurs win the UEFA and have already qualified for either the CL or the UEFA then another spot will come into play in the league. Potentially 7th could get in but thats very optimistic. Obviously Everton could win the FA Cup, beating one of the CL teams, and finish 5th and that also creates a spot for the league.
