fyds Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 excuse the question as i am a newbie, but who is simon??? Fair do's - he's my wife's (who is Dutch) Uncle. He has a successful and large building company based in Amsterdam and is a director of Dutch Club (not Feyenoord). He's not far off! Isn't he 24/25?He is 25.
fyds Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 That seems way to cheap... 8.5 millions pounds?Hey-ho. He gave them the year they wanted, maybe the deal was predicated on that.
surf Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Robben went for 8 million as well, Dutch players generally aren't that expensive.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Sign Huntelaar, Kuyt is so last year.Sign Mendes Da Silva (we were linked a couple of years ago) and play him out of position

Leo No.8 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Although he eventually flopped in England, Kezman had an equally impressive scoring ratio in Holland and was held in similar regard to Kuyt, yet only went for £6.5m. I reckon £8.5m would be about right for a top player from the Dutch league. Only RVN would break that mould, but United are easily ripped off...
Gomez Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 That seems way to cheap... 8.5 millions pounds? Didn't the bluesh*te have a £10m+ bit refused in Jan?
Shirohana Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Simon Kelder - Excelsior? What would he know about Feyenoord's dealings? Just to clarify... I hope it's true, think he would do really well for us.
floyd Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 (edited) People are refering to his looks, sound like Perez at Real, when he was asked if he would sign Ronaldinho. "Too ugly to be a galactico". Nice move knob Edited April 18, 2006 by floyd
Guest dewietje Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 The 2 clubs are linked together, right? Feyenoord gives them players on a temporary basis so that they get match experience on a lower level. (courtesy of wikipedia) So maybe he heard something?
mm2259 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Simon (who has a friend at Feyenoord called Ono Jacobs) reckons we have been in touch with Feyenoord constantly since our first approach, and have had (with Feyenoord's reluctant blessing) several meetings with the player. Kuyt would prefer to move to us rather than go elsewhere, we are trying to finalise the deal before the WC in case (I suspect) he has a stormer. The fee agreed in principal (to quote Simon) 'as solid as a deal can be at this stage' is ?12.5m over five years with appearances (both for us and Holland) as qualifiers. For the record Onno Jacobs is the Finance Director at Feyenoord so he would certainly be aware of what sort of fee is being discussed.
Swipe Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 What's Kuyt like? Is he a Shearer type stiker? Only thing i've hears is from a United fan who says he scores so easily it's untrue.
Ronnie Whelan Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Easily the best player in the world. Apparantly.
Guest Les Howard Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Kuyt is the most hyped player of recent times I reckon. I'd love us to sign him - and I haven't even seen him play a full game !I might be wrong on this but I suspect the majority of people here are in the same boat. Cisse's protracted transfer created alot of hype a while back but from the feedback we're receiving from those who've watched Dirk in action, this is being eclipsed by our supposed interest in Kuyt. Great info by the way fyds. Much appreciated.

Guest Les Howard Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Van der Vaart VdV had class and skill which was apparent - but his application let him down. Doing alright for Hamburg at the moment though.
stressederic Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 VdV had class and skill which was apparent - but his application let him down. Doing alright for Hamburg at the moment though. Oh I agree, but I think in the hype stakes he has pretty much everyone in Europe beaten on past form.
fyds Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Someone from Excelsior could exactly know about this. They're both from Rotterdam and have a partnership for exchanging players both ways.Exactly. But I'm not sure Simon Kelder is Fyds' uncle. No, he isn't.
Guest Les Howard Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Oh I agree, but I think in the hype stakes he has pretty much everyone in Europe beaten on past form. Speaking of hype (well in a roundabout way) I just can't get my head around the furore for David Trezeguet. Every time I see him - he's bleedin' awful - and yet he still get's mentioned in the same breath as proper class players.

Benitez Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Trezeguet is one of these awful players who scores loads of goals Hasn't he scored 20 goals in Serie A this season? Pretty damn good going in that dullard league
