Fir me it was the most dramatic night of my life and the greatest non-family event but my morals are struggling to put it right at the very top.

 

Ah feck it, it probably was, can't ever envisage anything quite like it again.

yes but Chelsea too 'cos it was at Anfield and later I hugged Rafa (not sure if I've ever mentioned this :D )

Best experience of my life, without a doubt. I have never seen anything like that before and probably will never see anything of it's likes ever again, and to be there inside the ground too! It literally was unbelieveable, and has only just started to sink in. The night it self wasn't brilliant, we got whisked off to the airport as soon as we left the ground and had to endure a 24hr delay,in the end everyone was a little grumpy, tired and fed up of ?5 cheese rolls and Mars Bars, and we missed the homecoming, but that wasn't the end of the world.

 

As Molby said, and i agree, the Chelsea game was a much better night. From experiencing the best atmosphere i have ever witnessed inside Anfield and then into town after the game, everwhere you looked there were people smiling and singing, banners out in town everyone wearing red. I saw people i hadn't seen for years, and had a great time.

 

Lets hope we have a few more experiences and nights like those

By a country mile the best night of my life. I have never know emotions like it. To go from total despair to pant-wetting elation in the space of 120 minutes was mind boggling.

 

Even in Sabiha Gokcen airport trying to get some kip in front of the check-in desks after been awake for 40 hours I just couldn't calm down. The adrenaline was pumping and every now and again I just felt the need to jump up screaming "YES" and punching the air as if Xabi had just scored the rebound. Even now I still find myself giving the air a small punch when the tv refers to Istanbul in any connotation, or something (anything) sets of my memory of that night.

I really can't understand it when people say it was the best night in their lifes, I am as much a red as the next guy, but there have been other days in my life better than Istanbul, the obvious being the birth of my daughters, I don't know how any dad can say winning ol big ears was better than seeing your children for the first time. truly amazed! I know I'll be an easy taget for some on here now and I'll never be regarded as a 'super fan' on this forum now but hey its how I feel!

:D Nah in all seriousness although I havent had kids yet I can see both sides of it, i'd say a lot who have had kids maybe prefer Istanbul because its something you cant make happen whereas you can just go and have another kid if you want sort of thing. ;)

I have two kids and the sheer elation of Istanbul was something that I have never come close to feeling about any other event in my life.

 

Having kids was totally different - I went to the hospital with my wife who was 9 months pregnant. I kind of knew what was going to happen.

 

As compared to the whole Istanbul experience, flying into a totally unknown country, wacky races in the taxis, the trek overland to the ground, meeting up with familiar faces a long way from home, a terrible first half, an unbelievable second half, Jerzy's double save, his "Brucie wobble" and then save from Shevcenko's pen, seeing us, Liverpool FC lift the biggest trophy of all, the coaches back to the City and then sitting drinking and eating till dawn, coming home the next day and seing the homecoming parade on the telly and reading all the papers.

 

No comparison.

No, only Vlad's. Nearly missed Stevie's but just caught it before going fo a p***.

 

At least I can still say I never saw Vladi do anything of note in a Liverpool shirt, bar one penalty I suppose. :D

 

Unquestionably the best, though I guess the Chelsea night ranks a fairly close #2 what with meeting Xabi, Pako (again) and Rafa

 

 

And how close were we to going into O'Neills instead ???? :ohmy::ohmy:
