Rate the Ref

i really thought he tried to let the players play the game. he issued warnings for some early tackles but the players did not use their heads and continued to make stupid decisions.

the refs cannot win, if they are too lenient they get blasted and when they do take charge they are accused of being fussy.

he could have done the game a favor by showing a card early on to either Neville or Cahill.

the red cards were inevitable as some of the Everton players lost their heads. i was very disappointed at Crouch and Kewell, if you are going to get booked, make it for a tackle not for whining.

i give Poll a 7

I thought he made some poor decisions but refs cannot always be right.  Thought some of the blues**** should have got yellow cards earlier - is Poll Kilbane's lover?  But there again Kewell, as well as he played, was flirting with a red too.

nah, his first booking was harsh, as was Crouch's. Thats not to say that Poll was against us, he just let a lot of Everton fouls go unpunished in the 1st half and then all of a sudden gave cards for everything.

except for Crouch's yellow I thought he did pretty well.

Kilbane was lucky though but I've seen much worse and Arteta definitely deserved his red in the end. He should have walked when he tried to stamp on Momo on the ground after having put his studs into the thigh

Arteta deffo deserved the second booking. That moaning c*** was whining all night and put in several late challenges.

as much as I like to see a blue get sent off and then a shot of Moyes in the dugout looking like he's going to explode, there was no way Arteta should have been booked for that. Its just that Poll had gone card-happy and had to keep booking players.

Kewell was lucky to not receive a 2nd yellow but he shouldnt have received the first one after Arteta the cheeky b*****d knocked the ball down with his hand. Neville's sending off was fair I think although Cisse/Momo seemed to make a meal of the tackles but both were daft and Arteta's 2nd yellow was unlucky too.

He seemed ok in the first half but someone mustve pissed him off at HT as he was s**** in the 2nd half and couldnt wait to get the card out.

I honestly think he booked Arteta the second time because of Arteta's reaction to his first booking, Poll thought "right i'll show you who's boss" and the next challenge Arteta put in, Poll sent him off.

Poll = Egomanic

Are there any decent ref's left? You could defo count them on one hand.

Guest Red Mist

He was great. He didn't get many decisions wrong (except for the ones given against us) and both red cards were right on the money. As somebody else mentioned, Arteta was dissenting all night long and deserved to go, the petulant git.

He was great for us

Even the disallowed Beattie goal was a very tough call.

Having seen that on telly since I got home, I'm quite happy that was out, despite Woodison not providing an 'absolute' camera angle - besides which, both Sami and Pepe stopped with the whistle.

Not the worst reffing performance by a long way - but a very fussy one. Neville was right to go off, he'd had a few hacks at legs and a few warnings. Arteta - tougher call - but he got gobby with the ref a couple of times which didn't help his cause.

I don't think it was out but I'm fed up of seeing it described in the media as a disallowed goal. Sami and Pepe had both stopped so it might have been scored, saved or cleared, who knows?

Well the Everton players didn't argue much, considering they argued about everything else during the game.

Is it really necessary this time around?

:D

The worst refereeing performance I've seen in years.Absolutely atrocious, not helped by poor work down the lines either.

Why? He got most decisions right. So again, why was he poor? Because Liverpool fans in general doesn't (shouldn't?) rate Poll?

My thoughts exactly, it's wrong for the ref to do that, but just the same Arteta is a whinger of the highest order.

Perhaps Poll would have been better sending him off at the time for dissent
